Guest guest
Dear All, Earlier once we touched Valmiki Ramayana amidst controversies; and left the subject of discussing astrology in Valmiki Ramayana just to save ourselves from controversies. Now let us go back to that subject again and let us try to learn some thing new about astrology from that book. We all know that Muhurtas are mentioned and is discussed in Valmiki Ramayana . I have some questions - * How much the Muhurta names mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana is different from the Muhurta names we use today? * How the Muhurta divisions came into existence in the first place? (30 Muhurtas! Is it that Muhurtas are connected to Nakshtras or is it that they are connected to Tithis? Why and How a day is divided into 30 equal/unequal parts?) What is the logic behind? * Why particular Muhurtas where named so at the period of Valmiki Ramayana? * Among the Panchagas (Tithi, Vara, Karana, Nakshtra, Nitya yoga) we know that Nakshatra and Tithi are mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana for sure. What about the other Panchanga items such as - Vara, Karana and Nityayoga? Are they discussed in Valmiki Ramayana? Would love to hear your thoughts. Note: I believe that there would be many in this group who went through Valmiki Ramayana with a criticizing attitude in search of astrological knowledge and better understanding ether prior or after the 'Birth of Rama' controversy happened in this group and outside. :=) Please come forward, so that we can start a hurricane and make the group more active. ;)Love and regards,Sreenadh
