Is it Better to Have Sagittarius or Pisces on the 9th House

This is a follow up to my previous blog where I said that people with

Leo Ascendant has Pisces on the 9th House and since Neptune, Ketu and

Jupiter are all rulers of Pisces, the person is in for a windfall.

Generally Jupiter is the significator of good fortune especially so if

it is connected with the 9th House. Sagittarius is Jupiter's

Moolatrikona sign so Jupiter gives stronger good effects if

Sagittarius is placed on the 9th House.

(In fact Jupiter can be considered as a functional malefic - a planet

that gives bad results for the Leo Ascendant because it rules the 6th

House and 9th House and Sagittarius being the stronger sign related to

Jupiter is associated with the Trika 6th House).

But the overriding arguments are :-

(1) As mentioned previously Pisces has 3 rulership planets connected

to it. So more benefits to spread around.

(2) Though Sagittarius gives stronger good effects when overlaid on

the 9th House, but even with Pisces there and Sagittarius on the 6th

House, Jupiter is still beneficial because of the strength of the

Trikona House using the hierarchy argument which I mentioned

previously. (In fact the 9th House sits two levels up in the

hierarchical placement over the 6th House - see my previous discussion).

(3) The 9th House is also stronger than the 6th Hous if one looks at

the Cadent Houses in succession 1st, 3rd, 6th and 9th. The 9th House

in fact is the strongest in this group.

(4) The 9th House is also the strongest in the group of Trikona

Houses 1st, 5th and 9th. Therefore the 9th House is very strong in

relation to the 6th house (whichever way you look at it) if the 6th

House ad 9th House are connected by planetary rulership like Jupiter.

(5) Jupiter is the significator of the 9th House (not the 6th House).

This means Jupiter is the significator of good tidings not bad

tidings because of its inherent beneficial nature.

Because of all the arguments above, I would not place much emphasis on

Jupiter being a functional malefic for a Leo Ascendant person (this

theory about functional malefic is only accepted by a small group of

Vedic Astrologers community).

With reference to this blog plus my previous blog on the Outer Planets

where I mentioned that the Leo Ascendant has a Piscean sign overlaid

on 9th House - my mistake.

It should be a Cancer Ascendant if one is referring to the Vedic Chart.

When I referred to astrologers commenting that the Leo Ascendant is

spiritually inclined, I was referring to Tropical Astrology. Since we

are talking with reference to the Vedic Chart, that statement should

have been read as a Cancer Ascendant.
