Guest guest
Dear James ji, First the astrology discussed here is NOT vedic; Vedic astrology is a term that refers to Tropical astrology dealt within Vedic literature. The fixed constallation based astrology followed and popular throughout India is clearly Non-Vedic. We believe that this system has a Tantic (Agama) origin, and it is possible that the system came down to us from Parthians (Parthiva = King; in Sanskrit; later the name chaged to Percia) or Zorashtrians, the worshipers of Ahur Mazda (Asura Medha = Asura Widom, in sanskrit). Vedic Astrology (i.e. Astrology dealt with in Vedic literature) never mentions or uses the Rasi names such as Mesha. The first indian texts that deal with the Rasi (Sign) names may include - Boudhayana Sutra, Adharva Vedeeya Jyotisha, Skanda Hora (Jyotishmati Upanishad) and so on. The Indian names for those signs you mention are Meena and Tula. It was never Pisces or Pe-Isis. Neither Tula was somthing else. Also note that astrology came down to India NOT from Egypt, Mesopotomia or Babylone - it originated HERE in India, and at the most we could guess is it may have some connections to the Asura Wisdom and culture represented by Sindhu-Sarasvati civilization, Parthian and Zorashshtrian civilisations etc. Indian astrology is not even remotly connected to or associated with Egyptian astrology - our system and rules is entirely different. Hope this helps.
