What does it mean in India? Also, is there a list of terminology and their definitions anywhere either in the files or that someone has that can share with me? Thanking you in advance. Guest guest
Dear Ms. Valente: I don't know how sincere the query is but I am sure you do not need an expert to answer the same. dana: the pronouncoation is different. Dana (Daina in the US) Daana (daanam) is what she meant. Daana means donation (not the ones we do for the tax breaks), give food, clothings, wealth etc. for the needy, with no other alterior motives or benefits but to get blessings from the Almighty. Again, another word " dhana " is wealth which is differently pronounced. Hope this helped. Jaya , FuchsiaStars wrote: > > > In a message dated 2/24/2008 2:05:49 A.M. Guest guest
Dear Jaya and Sreeram_Srinivas,, My inquiry is sincere in that my daughter's name is Dana. My curiosity is about the meaning of the various spellings that are similar to her birth name that you have described in your past mail. Thank you for your quick response and providing other pronunciations and symbols for her name. Thank you again, Lorraine Dear Ms. Valente:I don't know how sincere the query is but I am sure you do not need an expert to answer the same. dana: the pronouncoation is different. Guest guest
Dear Lorraine ji, English is a language of Indo-European Language family and Sanskrit is the oldest language of this family; possibly one of the root/source language. English adopts the word roots either from Sanskrit, Greek or Lattin. So no wonder if you are looking at the root meaning of words, a Sanskrit (Indian) or Greek (Greece) expert may able to clarify it than a common English man. As far as the language experts (whether from US, UK, India, Greece or anywhere else), they are far better - and at least have the idea where to look for the correct info on such subjects.
