Dear All, I was going through the poll results for the question - "What do you think this group should discuss more?" Here goes the current state of group opinion -* Practical astrological discussions (Results for Signs-Planets-Houses and their combinations) : 29%* How to predict with Divisions (Vargas) etc : 32% * Theoretical discussions about the foundations of Astrology : 10% * Much argued over ideas with varying views (such as KSY, Kendradhipati dosha etc) : 8% * Astrological lessens for beginners : 19% It is clearly visible from the current poll results that every one is very eager to know "How to predict with Divisions", the choice leading the poll with 32% of votes in favor of it! :) So it seems that - it is high time we should start discussing the same and at least give a feel of doing the same systematically in charts (in the same way dealt by the sages). Of the various divisions the most useful and famous is the Navamsa. Its importance spring from the fact that Navamsa is at the same time 1/9th of a Sign and 1/4th of a Nakshatra; Or in other words it is Navama (of Sign) and Nakshtramsa (of Nakshatra) at the same time. So let us start by discussing the same. Those who are new to the subject can start by reading the message: /message/558 But please DON'T ask any doubts about that message as of now, since it abbreviates the numerous systems used for predicting with Navamsa. That message was prepared just to give an overall picture. But since here we are trying to go to the details let us only baby step first starting with, "The results to be told for the placement of various planets in the sign owned by various other planets" and there to the specific question - "What are the results to be attributed to Sun in Sun's own Navamsa?" The above question has 2 connotations - 1) What are the results to be attributed to Sun in Sun's own Namasa? (Sun-Sun) 2) What are the results to be attributed to Sun in Leo Navamsa (Sun-Leo) Out of this let us address the first question only first, and then we will move on to the second question. Here is the quote from classic to start with - Navamsake swe savita prasoote naram parabhutam analpa soukhyam Kalipriyam vakrinamadya seelam gata prabhavam bahu rogabhajam (Shadvarga phala prakashH) Meaning, if Sun in its own navamsa then the native will enjoy much happiness. He would be interested in indulging in conflict, anger and wars; will opt for crooked and clever paths. (By the end) he will loss all his glamour and many diseases may come. There could be other similar quotes as well present in other classics - proceed with collecting and presenting them so that we can have a detailed discussion of the subject.Love and regards,Sreenadh
