Dear Sreenadh ji,I was quoting from BPHS, chapter 3, shloks 51-54. This what I follow also.Of course about the paramoch may be the one degree. Parashara takes 3 deg only as paramoch or deepest exaltation. If we have to take one degree, then why don't we take +1 and -1, i.e 2-4 degrees. Does the exaltation level build up and drop suddenly after 3 degree. (this is just by way of an example).

Please clarify.regardsneelamOn 29/01/2008, Sreenadh <sreesog wrote:

Dear Neelam Gupta ji, Moon is exalted (Uchha) throughout the sign Tauraus, and from 2.00 to 3.00 it is the maximum degree of exaltaion (Paramocha; only 1 degree span). Moola trikona just helps us to select the important sign among the 2 signs usually ruled by the planets. Moola trikona is the original home of the planet. Please refer to: Articles%20and%20E-books/A%20Brief%20Introduction%20to%20Vedic%20Astrology.doc

Same is true for other planets as well. Note that maximum degree of exaltation is ALWAYS one degree only; and also that exaltation is ALWAYS a whole sign. This is what Rishi Horas support. Hope this helps. Note: The information you provided below is wrong.

Dear Neelam ji,> If we have to take one degree, then why don't we take +1 and -1, i.e 2-4 degrees. Note the following points - * When we say the child is 1 years of age we don't have any doubt that it indicate time span from Zero age to 1 years. * When we say that time is going to be 3, we don't have any confusion and understand that the range is from 2.00 to 3.00 Note that this is the age old system of counting present in India, none had any confusion, when they said 3 degree they always meant from 2.00 to 3.00 ONLY. This is supported by texts, unbroken tradition (e.g. that of Prasnamarga) and is clearly logical. Doubt arises only when the continuity breaks and there is none to advice you the correct path. Hope this helps.

Dear Friends,

Sloka 50 and 51 0f BPHS Ch-3 gives different but clear massage.

Sloka 50 says .Aries,Taurus ,Capricorn, Virgo,Cancer,Pisces and Libra are the signs of exaltation of planets Sun to Saturn in

consecutive order. The full sign is considered as sign of exaltation and used for predictive purposes as such,

Sloka 51 indicates PARAM -Ucha degrees of planets in exaltation signs,This information is used to find out Ucha Bala etc

and has no conflict with the dictum given in Sloka 50.

Sloka 52,53, 54 and 55 indicate different information,

For example Sign Leo is both own and Mooltrikona sign of Sun.If Sun is placed upto 20 deg. in Leo , it will be give the results as if placed in Mooltrikona and there after

as if placed in own sign.Similarly , it is considered in other cases.

Planet in exaltation gives full benafic results but controlled by the placement of its depositor. In Mooltrikona portion it gives 75% auspicious results.

In own sign portion only 50 % results. But when planet is in its Mooltrikona or own sign , it gives results in harmony of significations of house and its own signification..

On the other hand if planet is in exaltation it generate resource for house predominantly according to its own signification.

The information given in these slokas is basic and used in various ways according to rules specified in relevant contexts for predicting purposes,
