Dear All,

I am presenting here with an article regarding the results

of 2nd lord in 2nd house - based on Rishi horas. Much discussion already

happened regarding this placement in the group - I was actually pouring oil in

fire due to a secret motive. :) The motive was - I just wanted to know many

such as - Meenraja Hora, Jataka Saradeepa, Phala Pradeepika, Hora Ratna -

omitted the results 'many wives' and 'no son' mentioned by Parasara and Lomasa.

;) By now you all may have understood that why that happened, and in the

light of this new understanding I just have to present the references to you

with a minor commentary for better understanding. I thank all members who

participated in this discussion such as Ash ji, Vinita ji, Reshmi ji, Sunil ji,

Srinivas ji, Renu ji, Remesh ji and many others shedding light to various

aspects related to this combination and the results it indicate. As

Ramesh ji rightly pointed out in his beautiful mail - "With discussion only we

may take out something valuables from the ocean". :) Hope at least

some of the group members will consider the following article as some thing

valuable in this regard. Below is my article about this combination with

quotes and comments.

======================================================

2nd house lord in 2nd house

If 2nd lord is in 2nd house,

the native would be egotic. He may have affairs or near marriage relations, or

may have more than one family (very close friendly relationship with another

family as if both are one). He may not have any son, but may have daughters –

provided other yogas also indicate the same. He would be wealthy, will indulge

in righteous deeds. He will enjoy much worldly pleasures. He will have much

income/earnings/gain/profit but would be stingy. He will always try to increase

his earnings, and would be after accumulating more and more money. He would be

a very able individual (in work, earnings, speech etc). Meenaraja omits the

results `many wives' and `no son' given by Parasara and Lomasa. This is a true

guidance to us indicating that those two said results may not actualize in some

horoscopes for the said combination - so be a bit cautious about those two

derivations, and speak them out only if other combinations also support the

same.

Let us see how these derivations came into existence and also

what is the logic behind each derivation.

If 2nd house lord is in 2nd house, the native would be

egotic. He may have even 2 or 3 wives, but won't have any children (especially

son).

- Parasara Hora,

Lomasa Samhita

Instead of the word `Pumso'

(native) Parasara Hora uses the word `Balo' (child), but the overall meaning of

the quote remains the same for both the texts.

Egotic: Wealth creates ego, belief in ones own ability creates

ego, mastery of words creates ego. 2nd house lord in 2nd house is similar to

Jupiter, the natural significator of 5th and 2nd house in 2nd. Naturally the

native would be intelligent and master of speech and writing - intellect,

mastery of writing and documentation all cause ego; the word ego is another

name for considering oneself as far better than others. Jupiter in 2nd aspects

8th and 10th house, the houses of fame - naturally the native would be

famous/popular; popularity - name and

fame - creates ego. There could many arguments to support the statement `the

native would be egotic'.

2 or 3 wives: 2nd lord is in its own house - `Swarkshe dwi

samgunam' (if planet in own house multiply by 2) an ancient quote says. 2nd

house is own family - 2nd lord in 2nd house indicates two families - 2 wives. When

wealth is there person may seek worldly pleasures - sexual and family pleasure

one among them. In NH 2nd house is owned by Venus a planet with its exaltation

sign in 11th (another house indicating 2nd wife) from Taurus, also owns 7th

(indicating wife) from Taurus. `Swache trisamgunam' (if exaltation multiply by

3) says an ancient quote. In NH, 2nd lord in 2nd is as if Venus in its own

house along with Jupiter (again the 11th lord indicating a wife) - thus Venus

indicating 2 wives along with Jupiter another wife, the combination indicates 3 wives. There

could be several other logical arguments as well. Even

though we can use all these logic to `explain' the logic behind the derivation

provided by Parasara, this result does not seem to actualize in several cases.

Since 2nd lord is in 2nd, and since a planet in own house can signify the

number two, it seems that modifying the reading as `He may have affairs or near

marriage relations, or may have more than one family (very close friendly

relationship with another family as if both are one)' may reflect the reality

in a better way. It is not that the native would be immoral; it is the

sincerity and affection of the native to the people close by that causes such

affections and relations. It is also possible that, since in the ancient period

as per the wealth and prosperity individuals selected more than one wife, by

mentioning many wives the sage is pointing to the fact that `the native will

enjoy all kinds of worldly pleasures and prosperity including women without

hindrance'. But a reading such as `many wives' may also point to the

possibility that, in such a horoscope if the 2nd house is afflicted and if the

first marriage breaks due to any reason the native will readily and suddenly

will get married for the 2nd time.

Won't have any son: As per NHT2, 2nd lord in its own house is

similar to - 2nd lord from Taurus (i.e. Mercury) in Taurus lagna. Note that -

Venus gets debilitated in Virgo; the lord of Virgo Mercury is a female eunuch

and in this case gets placed in lagna; further 5th house from Taurus (i.e.

Virgo) is a house which indicate less number of children or no children. All

this points to the fact that the native may have the

native may not have a son (but may have daughters). Note that, this result should be told with confidence

only if other yogas also indicate the same.

If 2nd house lord is in 2nd house, the native would be

wealthy, will indulge in righteous deeds, will have much income/earnings/gain.

He would be stingy, and very able (in work, earnings, speech etc).

- Meenaraja Hora,

Jataka Saradeepa, Hora Ratna, Phala Pradeepa

Sundara Varadachari (US Pulippani) translates the above quote as

`2nd lord in 2nd bhava - Rich doing righteous activities, gets more profit but

will be a miser, clever'.

Indulge in righteous deeds: This understandable since if we

assume that 2nd lord in 2nd is similar to Jupiter in 2nd, its 9th aspect will

fall in 10th house from lagna indicating righteous deeds. With the 5th aspect Ju will also aspect 6th

house diminishing the bad qualities and influences of the native.

Would be stingy: 2nd house is the storage house, bank, box in

which money and treasures are stored. it is the urge to accumulate money that

makes the native stingy. He won't like to spend money without purpose, for

useless deeds. That means he will not waste money. The inner urge to collect

enough money, and to accumulate wealth (and also to spend it for good deeds

where ever necessary) that makes the native tight-fisted. It is not arrogant,

unreasonable stinginess without logic; but instead it shows the urge to manage

the money in the best possible way without taking risks. The native would be much willing to spend money for

useful things and righteous deeds without any resistance and with a positive

attitude.

Very able (in work, earnings, speech etc): It is a natural

derivation well indicated by the strengthening of 2nd house and also due the

supposed aspect of Jupiter (the significator of 2nd) in 10th house.

Another version of the above

quote reads as follows -

If 2nd house lord is in 2nd house, the native would be

wealthy, will enjoy the worldly pleasures, will always try increase earnings,

and would be after accumulating more and more money. He would be very able (in

work, earnings, speech etc).

-

Meenaraja Hora

One special point to he noted about results given by

Meenaraja is that, he omits the results such as `many wives' and `no son' given

by Parasara and Lomasa. This is a true guidance to us indicating the fact that

those two said results may not actualize in some horoscope for the said

combination - so be a bit cautious about those two derivations, and speak them

out only if other combinations also support the same.

Note: Dear Ash ji, I just want to say that it is one of the basic

points at

which our attitude towards Rishi hora quotes and ancient astrology

differs. :)

This is exactly why, I was requesting you to wait for a moment for the

reality

turn out, before jumping into doubting/disregarding sage quotes or

ancient

texts. If we look in the right hierarchy, right direction,

certainly they

will reveal to us what they wanted to convey. The mistakes (if

any) made

by the preceding ones would be corrected by the knowledgeable ones who

followed

them and viewing the total history - we will clearly see, who are right

and who

are wrong, and in what context and with what importance statements made

by them

should be adhered to. May be you already know this, but I am putting

across this point for the benefit of many who were listening to this

discussion about 2nd lord in 2nd house.

Love and regards,

Sreenadh
