Dear Krishnaji,

 

Both are important, but emphasis is more on " amsa " position. As we are

taking of Lagna, so Navamsha Lagna holds important. That is where the

modern astrologers falter, traditional jyotish prevail. This has

" amsa " importance is given in every classics. this also requires

little understanding of vargas...as fundamentally the differences

araises from here itself... hence those long debates on vargas in past

in this or VA forums ....few years ago...before when we quit the

group....
