I have observed the following books are real value for money and also in terms of subject authenticity 1)  Scientific Astrology { not sure of title} by Prof. P.S. Sastry   Vol 1 & 2 , published by Ranjan Publications, Dariyaganj, New Delhi { This is very popular book though it is about introduction, yet it is of immense value for there are many things in this book which will be of interest much later as your interest in the subject grows } Cost - Rs. 600-800 per set2)  Learn Astrology Easily  by Sri K.N. Rao,  published by Vani Publications { his own publication },  Costs Rs. 150 or less.    Has well laid out principles of interpreting horoscope.   Good presentation from an well known authority3) Ganesh Hora Shastram  by Mr. Ganesh, published by Alpha Publications,   Vol 1 & 2  Costs Rs. 400 or so.   Good for initial and subsequent astro interest.......The above would suffice for atleast for the initial one year......with regards,sreeram srinivas
