Guest guest
These astrology books explain basics in such a way that even after reading book from cover to cover u know all concepts except how to apply them. your answer does not answer my question - which is a fundamental: " how to tell if planet is strong or not " E.g: a query requires a particular house, to say when the event will be timed, we need to look at house lord position, natural significator position and planets in the house and house itself. The basics for this are whether planet is in own house, exaltation, friend's house, functional benefic, yogakaraka, aspected by friend etc. I can make a list of all these - tell how the planet is placed. But a chart can have interesting combinations: Say mars is yogakaraka, functional benefic, exalted in 7th house which contribute to his strength and say the 7th house happens to be lorded by saturn: who is enemy of mars and mars is associated with mercury (functional malefic for the chart) and ketu (natural malefic): all of which contribute to his weakness In this case, how would you apply the basic principles.... Note this is tricky because there are points contributing to his overall strength and weakness. Now if you want to say if mars will give good result in his dasa/antardasa as per Vimsottari - how would you go about this? it is easy to tell - " go learn basics " - but in any science/art, it is possible to start doing exercises and learn. Mehtaji: How did you learn Physics? by reading all theory or working out problems? Can you help answer my query I request the learned members of this group to guide me in this scenario , " O.P. Guest guest
Dear Kiran ji, ==> These astrology books explain basics in such a way that even after reading book from cover to cover u know all concepts except how to apply them. <== Well said - and you are absolutely right! That is why this group became necessary, to restructure things in the ancient way and present them systematically.. So the question remains - 'how to apply'. Just go to the files section and look inside the folder named " Sreenadh " you will find a files with the names - * Sreenadh/ Introduction%20to%20Essence%20of%20Astrology.pdf * Sreenadh/ Essence%20of%20Ancient%20Astrology.pdf * Sreenadh/ Sun%20in%20Various%20signs.pdf * Sreenadh/ Lagna%20lord%20in%20Various%20Houses.pdf Start from them And you will see that every question should be approached in small chunks - and also that every analysis of natal chart happens in small chunks.. As of strengths - forget all other strengths as of now - and consider ONLY the " strength due to placement " (i.e. Stana bala). Yah, the exaltation, own house, friends house, debilitation stuff you mentioned. ==> > Say mars is yogakaraka, functional benefic, exalted in 7th house > which contribute to his strength and say the 7th house happens to > be lorded by saturn: who is enemy of mars and mars is associated > with mercury (functional malefic for the chart) > and ketu (natural malefic) <== Oh no! don't make a kichadi of things! Approach the analysis in small chunks! For example - * If mars is Yoga karaka - say the result for that. point. * If Mars is exalted - say the result for that. point. * If Mars is in 7th house - say the result for that. point. * If Mars is exalted (i.e. in Cp) and is in 7th house - say the result for this sign-house combination. point. * If Saturn is in 7th - say the result for that. point. * If Mars and Saturn are together in 7th - say the result for that. point. [Remember - no results gets cancelled, but only gets modified; so every statement based on the above analytical approach will be true, for sure] In this way it goes. Your example amply illustrates that, how an ignorant so called astrologer will mix-up everything and come up with NOTHING - yah, not even a single result to state! And at the same time a personal who systematically approached the subject will have a thousand results to speak out! Yes, this itself is the difference between the approach of the well learned ancient sages - and the kichedi astro masters of modern times! Since you got a good example at hand and your own experience with the same - I think you have a good starting point to begin your study yourself. Guest guest
Dear Mehta ji, Thanks for expressing your sincere concerns and opinians. ==> May I once again request to please reconsider and send some good lessons for the beginners like me . <== Even though I agree that it would be useful - that is not the purpose and aim of the group. If any body prepares and presents the such lessons - they are welcome. The point is - * This is NOT a group which is trying to teach someone or trying to spead knowledge. * It is a group for people who work themselves and share their work and understanding. (If others gets benefited by it - it is ok - but not of any special importance) * In this group - nobody is working for others - no, not even trying to teach or teach. It is just a discussion board for learned members to share their knowledge. If others gets benefits - then that is only a side effect - and not the main purpose of the group. So I will request YOU to prepare some beginners lessons and share it with the group (if you feel like doing so) for the benefit of other like you. Love and Hugs, Sreenadh , " O.P. Guest guest
What constitutes basic, giving a small brief {my perspective} 1) Casting a horoscope { Ayanamsa, Equal or Cuspal Concepts} 2) Knowing the 12 Houses { knowing the bhava & houses are same or different andtheories therein} 3) knowing the 7+2 Planets and what their attributes 4) knowing the vargas & what they are intended for or reveal { interpreting varga or varga charts, calculating different vargas and controversies therein} 5)Techniques of prediction { different school of thoughts - parashara, jamini, nakshatra techniques} 6) Different dasha systems { definition of year 365 Vs. 360..etc.,} 7) What are malefics, benefics, exaltation, debilitation, rasi tulya navamsa, ashtakvarga, bhadhaka, gulika, mandi, retrograde of a planet, combustion, ...etc. - general terminologies It is difficult to convey the above mentioned basics through this forums, better you buy a book for Rs. 100-150 it contains every thing. If you do not understand any term, you can post the same in this forum, somebody would surley answer it. For they are many tables, calculations which cannot be taught. To expect everything from this forum is very difficult. Most of the members are working professionals and find time to share their thoughts this forums. For some basic lessons are already written in details for beginners...kindly go through them first.... http://www.galacticcenter.org/ they are nicely written. In each of above mentioned listed basics the one you read in brackets are all the topics which have some controversies and serious differences, and this are often discussed in great details in this forum. In short, you need to know ABC...alphabets, & learn to write words. That is the basic mark that you need to achieve on your own. Then sentences formation is all that we discuss. For any interested student learning the defined basics should not be taking more than 15-20 days, depending upon once educational background. Engineers will be able to grasp it faster for some of the astronomy is something everybody must have learned in the first year of engg. { yester year engg. courses...} keep visiting the forum and reading ......it will surely help you in the long run. Be prepared to invest atleast 5 yrs of your learning time to get some foot hold in astrology. This is a "kilith" vidya....... not every body would be successfully learning the prediction art. It is very time consuming and tricky subject. In terms of books, you should be ready to invest anything around Rs.10,000 + on very minimal basics....should you ready aspire to be one..... with regards, sreeram srinivas , "O.P. Guest guest
For every lagna, there are benefic and malefic planets. This roles sometimes get mixed up due to PAC i.e. position, aspect and conjunction of a planet. Day or night birth, Condition of Moon i.e. Shukla paksh or Krishna paksh, in which house it is posited i.e. certain planets get strength in 4H or 10H, or in Lagna..etc.. The planets exaltation or debilitation, same exaltation and debilitation in certain selected houses again changes the combinations. Planetary placement in certain signs gives it strength or weakness. In short, if you see it is very subjective to say it is benefic or malefic. Moreover the same planet being benefic causes more harm than malefic planet, for the astrology is a great science, but interpretation or prediction is a ARTand requires good amount of judgement. It is here knowledgeable astros make or break in predictive skills. Kindly do not expect someone to write a book and post it in this forum. I would request you to kindly buy a book on SHADBAL costs Rs. 60 or so, available from the adjacent bookshop to Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, { Mehta House} K.G. Marg, New Delhi - 110001, the shop is open from morning 09:00 hrs - 18:00hrs during weekends. On Sundays 15:00 - 18:00hrs. Guest guest
Dear Sreenadhji, I went through the docs posted by you in this mail. There are no words that can describe the brilliance of these uploads especially the " Lagna lord in various houses " - The methodology can be extrapolated to each house lord in various houses (e.g: 2nd house lord in various houses) - I am working on that For the benefit of this group and the world, it would be great if you could come up with a few more uploads that tell us about the impact of malefics in house prediction, how to use appropriate dasa systems etc as taught by the rishis. If you ever write or plan to write a book Sreenadhji, I will be the first to order it. Thanks Kiran , " Sreenadh " <sreesog wrote: > > Dear Kiran ji, > ==> > These astrology books explain basics in such a way that even after > reading book from cover to cover u know all concepts except how to > apply them. > <== > Well said - and you are absolutely right!
