Guest guest
Dear Mr. Tood and other friends, Jyotish is also called 'ANKAN SHASTRA' WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Let us CONSIDER Gregorian Calendar - What is the astronomical basis of starting the year from 1st January. But it is now coming in a well defined cyclic order. This is a civil calender and one does need the help of experts to construct the calender of subsequent years. On account oe their occurrence in cyclic order, number one and subsequent numbers attains strength by its use. Persons born on 1st do have particular power by its continuous use . Similarly week days are in use and fall in cyclic order. This gives them power. Lord Rama was born on 9th day and Lord Krishna was born on 8th day based on the CIVIL REPEAT CIVIL calender prevalent in those days,(Five yuga system was prevalent in those days -which was adjusted after 19 solar years). As such Lord Rama and KRISHNA responded to the characteristics of numbers 9 and 8 respectively. Similarly ascending house also responds to 1st Sign Aries along with rising sign. Some persons are well within their right to call 'ARUN SAMHITA ' as fake but it is based on this basic principle .' LAL KITAB APPROACH IS LIMITED , BUT WHATEVER IT SAYS COMES TRUE. ON THIS SITE WE ARE DISCUSSING BIRTH DETAILS OF LORD RAMA , BUT WITHOUT FIRST UNDERSTANDING THE civil CALENDER PREVALENT IN THOSE DAYS.. Guest guest
My Dear Sreenadh, I think , I may be wrong , you do not consider others view point ,but react, this is not the way to communicate. Ive posed the problem, which was the civil calender prevalent in the days Lord RAMA AND Krishna. Rama returned after 14 years on the appointed day. Mahabharta war was fought as at that time every body was trying to use his own calender as suited individuals. Forget what people say about LAL-KITAB, STUDY SOME GOOD TRANSLATION ,USE IT ,ONLY THEN YOU WILL KNOW ITS VALUE.Kindly try to learn to benefit from the knowledge from whatever source it is available. It is very easy to be critical monumental works, but very difficult to understand their value and more particularly their utility to masses. I can answer you other queries , but I would like you to find out answers yourself. regards, G.K.GOELPh: 09350311433Add: L-409, SARITA VIHARNEW DELHI-110 076INDIA Sreenadh <sreesog Sent: Monday, 12 November, 2007 7:24:04 PM Re: days of the week (File uploaded ) Dear Goel ji,==>> Jyotish is also called 'ANKAN SHASTRA' WHAT DOES IT MEAN?<==I think - you should better answer your self. ==>> LAL KITAB APPROACH IS LIMITED , BUT WHATEVER IT SAYS COMES TRUE.<==I have a different opinion - but any way, that is not important. Guest guest
Dear Goal ji, ==> > I think , I may be wrong , you do not consider others view > point ,but react <== Actually you are correct to an extend - and I will try correcting myself. Thanks for the advice. I always appreciate knowledge, and humbleness - but I don't know - I seem to have an inbuilt hatred for self proclaimed gurus. At times I felt that it is there in my blood. Any way I will try to correct my self. ==> > Ive posed the problem, which was the civil calender prevalent in > the days Lord RAMA AND Krishna. <== Dear Goal ji, Yes I understand the importance of this question. But I think we are discussing subjects like " Astrology in Valmiki Ramayana " ; " Astrology in Puranas " etc to answer this question as well! Anyway - but I have always felt that - it it the individual effort and contributions (for example take Kaul ji) that matters than discussions in groups. My belief is that - individual study and effort should happen and the groups are just to share them in between and to get a brief clarification for major doubts. ==> > Forget what people say about LAL-KITAB, STUDY SOME GOOD > TRANSLATION ,USE IT ,ONLY THEN YOU WILL KNOW ITS VALUE. <== Yes, I will try to learn Lal kitab, when I get the original text with translation. ==> > Kindly try to learn to benefit from the knowledge from whatever > source it is available. <== Actually I am practicing it for long. Any way thanks for the advice. ==> > It is very easy to be critical monumental works, but very difficult > to understand their value and more particularly their utility to > masses. <== Yah, I know - but criticism at times becomes necessary to bring out valuable material, and to know the strengths and weakness of each stands. Actually it is part of testing the perspectives. ==> > I can answer you other queries , but I would like you to find out > answers yourself. <== Great! I don't think you have answered any of my queries; because I haven't asked many! There was only one query in my previous mail - but you opted not to answer it. But any way, I have many queries in stock, and I believe you would be kind enough to answer some of them.
Guest guest
Dear Sreenadh, >>...I always appreciate knowledge, and humbleness - but I don't know - I seem to have an inbuilt hatred for self proclaimed gurus. At times I felt that it is there in my blood. Any way I will try to correct my self...<< Sure, it is good to be humble, but not too humble... At least I for one understand your feelings for these self proclaimed gurus, who are often propagating ill digested astrological methods and pretending to be saving the souls of their followers at the same time. I most certainly believe it is possible to become a good astrologer without being the follower of any of these self proclaimed gurus. In my opinion three elements are important if one wants to become a good astrologer: 1) A good intuition 2) An empathic mind 3) Powers of discrimination These three elements in combination with a deep study of the relevant textbooks and a good practical application of the principles involved on the actual real life horoscopes is what it takes. Guest guest
Dear Finn ji, Thanks for the nice mail - I appciate the view you presented, and agree with it. ==> > These three elements in combination with a deep study of the > relevant textbooks and a good practical application of the > principles involved on the actual real life horoscopes is > what it takes. <== Yes, I agree - and we have many practical examples in this group itself. Take Sunil ji or Madhu ji, they are ready to follow ANY methods as long as it helps them to PREDICT THE CORRECT RESULTS. I agree with them and was forced to follow the same path earlier in my life for several years when I was a professional astrologer. Because the clients comes to you, and then either - * They present a natal chart with no further description OR * Just will tell us that they need a Prasna - no further description! In the above situation if we don't have REAL WORKING PRINCIPLES that helps us to arrive at the CORRECT RESULTS regarding PAST & FUTURE then the reputation and livelihood of the astrologer would be at stake. Unlike the North Indian astrologers who seems to have learned to live on 'Upaya' (Remedies), for most of the south indian astrologers - it is a real test; a lose or win situation. I didn't had any other way (and Sunil ji & Madhu ji still don't have), but to test and select among the real working principles, so that our requirement would be fulfilled. Actually since this practice went of for centuries in south - in many lineages we have a clear collection of working principles. Even when they hear about a new theory people like Sunil ji (or any other astrologer who is forced to face the REAL TESTS), test it for a day or two to see whether it serves his purpose or not, and then opts to accept it or reject it. Even when Sunil ji hatred that Rama's horoscope is based on Tropical astrology, he started testing it with first his own chart itself (combined with inidan astrological principles like Vimsottari Dasa) and came to the conclusion that the it is not working to his satisfaction, and that the results are unsatisfactory. And similar study continues. We don't have a lifetime to waste, but only limited time, and we need RESULTS. In Krishneeya there is a sloka - JotishaH Phalam Adesa, Phalardhamarambhanam Bhavati loke Tasmad Yetna Karohyadesa Jyotishanjena meaning, Astrologer should predict, all the efforts are for results (prediction), so the astrologer should try to speak out the results. Mihira says, even if an astrologer knows a thousand methods of mathematical calculations and astronomy, then too if he fails to predict the correct results, he will become a laughing stoke in social gatherings. You yes, you said - " An astrologer is only as good as his last successful prediction " . All these points are worth noting - at as you rightly mentioned, this itself is the root cause of hatred towards self proclaimed gurus. Because as you rightly said " they are often propagating ill digested astrological methods and pretending to be saving the souls of their followers at the same time " . I agree to you completely and thanks for the nice mail.
