Ayanamsa

The problem with people is to compare people of different generations for the top title of - Biggest Name.    It happens " daily "  in Cricket Game - people trying to compare Tendulkar with Bradman either it is a publicity or advt. campaign or anything else, I do not know - for the game has other great hitters of the ball - Vivan Richards, Ricky Pointing, Gilchrist...etc.Coming to our subject Astrology - the point who is supporting which ayanamsa is NOT the criteria.    What is the ayanamsa, where the differences lie {pun inteneded in the word - LIE } in various concept ayanamsas in the " market place " ,  the who it effects the calculations, which one is giving results {or accurate results} ...etc. is the main issue.To set the records straight with my limited knowledge of differences, yet valid ones - the two well-known names i.e. Late Sri B.V. Raman and Sri K.N. Rao each had respect for the other, till the govt. calendar committee on " national " ayanamsa issue consulted all then known astros, wherein Sri Rao supported Lahiri, much to the chagrin of Late Sri B.V. Raman.    In India, there is always a problem of eulozing or equating one's Guru - to point of replacing the GOD himself !!!   Like in any human base instincts {egos, vindictivenss...etc..}, when friends differ,  they dig deep into each other.   Ofcourse, thanks to their respective characters, the mud - sludging did not happen in public eye, and is limited to the " elegant " technicalities of astro subject.  Decency was maintained throughout.  However, if one were to note the some previous posting of a person(s), in this group or elsewhere,  when they differed on a subject,  used a abusing language, therein, forgetting to emulate their own Guru's directions on such delicate matters in public forums. My request to all astros - is focus on the subject, NOT on individuals behind it.  I may submit here....in god enlightened spiritual progress,  there is mental state when attained - he gets a title of " Paramahansa "   - It means one is able to differentiate or separate water from milk, like a the divine " Swan "   - vehicle of Goddess Saraswati.It is true to say my " western " cousins have done better in this segment of keeping an open mind and focussed on the subject with a research intent.with regards,sreeram srinivas
