Guest guest
Two planet combinations (Su-Mo combination) [Continued….] Even though we came up to this much understanding about this combination this seems to be scarcely enough to be useful in real life result derivation in horoscope to convincingly argue that we know enough basic rules related to 2-planet combinations and to derive enough results that reflect actual experience. There must be some more rules hiding from view that must help us in result derivation related to planet base - simple combining of significance will not suffice the real purpose. The common truth is that - what ever looks so simple at initial look - may not be so simple as it may seem to be - when we approach it, and dedicate ourselves to understanding the truths behind. With this understanding, let is look for some more possibilities. Kalapurusha and Planets Moon is the lord of 4th house Kalapurusha chart, and Sun is of 5th house. Definitely the conjunction of Sun and Moon should cause the Rajayoga known as Kendra-Trikonadhipa yoga, since 4th is a Kendra and 5th a Trikona. Thus this combination is sure to bestow some good results in both Sun dasa and Moon dasa as per the rules put forward by Parasara. Laghu Parasari states - If the lord of a Kendra and a Trikona are together, it will produce a Rajayoga. (The results of which will come into play in their respective Vimsottari Dasas). - Leghu Parasari Usually the Raja yogas are supposed to provide good results such as power, authority, wealth, good social status, good family life, vehicles, intelligence and success in many fields and endeavors. Help from all quarters should come and popularity should be easy to gain. Does the actual experience reflect this - the example charts should help us to verify this. But an important rule regarding 2-planet combinations surface here. Rule 3: Considering the Kalapurusha chart and related houses, the possible house lord combinations and the related results should be derived and attributed to every 2-planet combination. This is a fundamental rule and approach we cannot fail to consider, not only regarding this combination but also for all the other 2-planet combinations that we may study. Dasa results and 2-planet combinations Dasa results are some thing which usually consider and combine significance of various planets for primary result derivation. If it is so, if the same rule of combining significance applies to 2-planet combinations as well, then for sure, the dasa results predicted for Sun Dasa Moon Antara and Moon Dasa Sun Antara should provided us some possible results that we can apply to Su-Mo combination as well. Thus the rule - Rule 4: Dasa-Antara results can be applied to 2-planet combinations and vice versa, since both of them depend on combining of significance for primary result derivation. Let us see what results this approach can provide us with. Let us see what Horaratna has to say- In the dasa of Sun and antara of Moon, success over the enemies, gain of wealth, meeting the relatives, lack of diseases and healthy body, and other good results can be predicted. - Hora ratna In the dasa of Moon and antara of Sun, good social status, money, wealth, grains (ample food), birth of children, success over the enemies, good intellect, help and happiness from relatives etc can be predicted. - Hora ratna Note that as if in a Rajayoga only good results are given above. Sun and Moon are friends to each other and so naturally considering their significance deriving positive results alone can be expected and that is what we see in the above quotes. Thus a rule to remember is - Rule 5: The mutual friendship or enmity of the planets should be considered in deriving the results for 2-planet combinations. Thus naturally we will see that Su-Mo combination should give many good results. But for sure you know that it is not merely the good results that this combination indicates. This is one of the dreaded combinations causing many bad results also for sure. Why? And what are those bad results? Let us look at some possibilities - Sun a malefic with weak Moon another malefic Sun is malefic and should generally indicate many bad results. Similarly a weak Moon is also considered as malefic and should indicate many bad results. Strength of Moon depends much on Pakshabala, and a weak Moon (Moon with less Pakshabala or Moon near to Amavasi) is considered weak. Skanda hora states that - Moon of Krishna Chaturdasi (14th Tithi in black fortnight) should be considered as weak. After that (the Moon in Krishna Chaturdasi and Amavasi) till the till the Kuhu lasts (Till the Amavasi lasts, i.e. till the Suklapaksha Pradhama begins) Moon is considered very weak. - Skanda Hora This is the weak Moon that is especially considered as malefic. Mihira states that `the weak Moon should be treated as a malefic'. If that is not enough, see the most authentic quote from the astrology Upanishad Skanda hora (Jyotishmati Upanishad) itself. If Moon is waning (and is near to Amavasi) then, even if it is strong in other ways, it should be considered as weak. This weakness when reaches its culmination (in Krishna Chaturdasi and Amavasi) Moon becomes malefic. - Skanda Hora Thus clearly in most cases when Sun and Moon are together we have clear combination of two malefics. What are the results that should be attributed to this combination? Do we have any quotes available? Yes, for sure we have. While dealing with Sun Dasa Moon Antara results Parasara states - In Sun's dasa and Moon's antara, then distress to wife and children, failures in ventures, disputes with others, loss of servants, antagonism with the king (government) and destructions of wealth and grains will be the effects if the Moon is weak and is associated with a malefic (for sure Sun is a malefic). - Parasara Hora Note that all the results derived here are inauspicious, and is diametrically opposite to the good results mentioned till now! How can the same combination give both good and bad results - that to diametrically opposite results?! Yes, it is possible and that itself is the uniqueness of this Su-Mo combination - it can raise the native or destroy him all together. In several instances you may find only good results if there is sufficient distance (less proximity) between Sun and Moon, and many bad results will surface if they are very close by - i.e. if it is Krishna Chaturdasi or Amavasi. Proximity and 2-planet combinations As clear from the above results proximity of planets is something that should be considered while deriving results related to 2-planet combinations. As per ancient indian astrology, considering proximity is synonymous with considering divisions (vargas) in result derivation. In the case of Moon this could be the Tithi as well. Here we don't want to consider divisions (which in itself is another big subject), but as far as Su-Mo combination is concerned it becomes clear that the results varies much based on the Tithi in which the birth took place (i.e. based on the distance between Sun and Moon). Rule 7: Proximity of planets should be considered while deriving results related to 2-planet combinations. Even if Sun and Moon are in the same sign, the tithi could be Krishna Dwadasi (12th), Krishna Trayodasi (13th), Krishna Chaturdasi (14th), Amavasi (15th), Sukla Pradhama (1st), Sukla Dwiteeya (2nd) or Sukla Triteeya (3rd). It is also possible that the birth took place in Amavasi but Sun and Moon are in different signs. The inauspicious results predicted for Su-Mo combination apply especially when Sun and Moon are in the same sign, and is very close by. The auspicious results predicted for Su-Mo combination apply especially when Sun and Moon are in the same sign, but not much close by. Divisions and Tithi and Nityayoga could be of much help in determining the proximity of Sun and Moon and changing the derivations accordingly. Elaborating all the possible results related to such combinations is a tedious task. But some points of special importance should be noted here. If tithi is not in Krishna Chaturdasi, Amavasi or Suklapaksha Pradhama a bit weightage could be given to the auspicious results. But it is Amavasi definably the following results apply. If the birth takes place in Amavasi, the native would be addicted to sexual pleasures, would be after the pleasures and happiness of life. He would be sexually capable (handsome), weak, and would be much troubled by scarcity or need for money and wealth. - Jataka Saradeepa [Let me ask a cute question here - Is it that Pournami (Full Moon day) always gives good results? I don't think so. A malefic in 7th from moon should indicate several bad results as well - right? Look into it - and come out with new insights] Another important result to be noted is that if the birth took place in Suklapaksha Pradhama, the chance of immature death is high. Look at the following quote - If the birth took place in Suklapaksha Pradhama, the native may be alive for 3 days or 3 months only. But if this period is covered without worries then he will have a long life ahead possibly even upto 100 years. - Jataka Saradeepa Rule 8: Tithi and Nityayoga is of special importance and should be considered while deriving results based on Su-Mo combination. In any case it should be noted that a birth that took place when Sun and Moon are together (i.e. when Moon is weak) indicate, many diseases and health problems in childhood. Also note that Moon is the natural significator (nisargika karaka) for childhood. Rule 9: The natural significance of the planets and the period they signify could be considered for deriving or attributing results related to specific periods of life - if any such results are indicated by the 2-planet combination under consideration. I request the learners to dive deep into this subject of Sun-Moon proximity and come up with more valuable observations and derivations. Other considerations and possibilities Sage Vasishta tells us that Su-Mo combination can indicate `Poverty' and Vasanta raja tells us that this combination can indicate `fear from government or authority'. What do you think the logic behind these derivations could be? For the native to run after money and to gather it much - the mind should be strong, ego should be high, and weakness controlled. But this is not the case when Sun and Moon are together - Moon is weak means mind is weak, bad habits and weaknesses high. If Sun is strong in such a chart then the native becomes uninterested in money, even though he would be highly creative, would excel in mathematics science and every search after the unknown. He would be dedicated, would be after the secrets and occult behind everything - but still uninterested in money. Thus naturally in both cases - the money problems are sure to happen. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had Sun and Moon together in a single sign (Suklapaksha Dwiteeya) - and you can refer to other horoscopes with similar combination to verify these results. Sun is the significator of government or authority, and that sun is afflicting the Moon (i.e. the native himself) in the above combination, and definitely fear is associated with the mind, i.e. Moon- that is why the derivation `fear from government or authority'. Rule 10: If some special results are attributed by some sages to any 2-planet combinations, such derivations should be given special importance - because they will actualize for sure. Houses - how they affect the 2-planet combinations? [This is again a big subject - I will address this question another day] We will continue this discussion on two planet combinations in the coming days and explore more into the possibilities and compare the derivations with actual observed results. - Written by Sreenadh OG
