Dear All,

As per the Kerala system this month Simha (Leo) is considered as

the year beginning. I wish a prosperous new year to all. :)

In the Month of Leo, starting from 'Hasta' Lunar day 10 days are

celeberated in Kerala as 'Onam'. It is a harvest festival - since by

this time harvest (rice cultivation) would be taking place in Kerala.

This is a period when wealth, celebration is present and nature

itself celebrates with plenty flowers in Kerala. The memory of the

beautiful mythical past with every having well to do status and

equality comes to their mind; and every one play, (Ball play and

Swing), Eat (Feast) and enjoy. It is 10 day holiday for schools and

and many other institutions during Onam.

Know More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onam

Mahabali was a very good example for kindness, humbleness, human

loving nature beneficial to the society and oneself and many more :

It is said that he lived in Kerala; so am I. Mahabali was an Asura

(which valued Tanta and Yoga); So am I. The fight – should I do it or

shouldn't I; Should I be good, or bad etc must have been present

inside that great individual who stood against the common social flow

of selfishness and became a real individual I believe; and see me

mirrored some how in him, or him in me. The beauty of Kerala and my

playful childhood days comes to mind. Thus I love Onam, Mahabali and

Kerala.

Maveli nadu vaneedum kalam Manusharellarumonnupole...

Kallvumilla chatiyumilla..ellolamilla polivachanam..

[When Mahabali was ruling country, every human beings were equal.

There was no theft; no cheating, no not even a word of lie by

anybody..]

Mahabali is the supreme embodiment of strength and Kindness.

Love,

Sreenadh

Shri Sreenadhji,

Namaskar!

Since according to you the new year in Kerala starts when the sun

enters Leo, when did that event occur? What are the grounds for

your assumption that it was on that date that the sun entered Leo?

In other words, what Ayanamsha are you following and why?

Regards,

AKK

Dear Kaul ji,

I was not making any astrological or astronomical analysis or

research. From that day onwards it is 10 day leave and celebration in

Kerala and it is a festival season; due to the holidays itself. :) If

it is holydays and festival season - just enjoy! Who is bothered about

your astronomical accuracy as far as playing, eating and celebration

etc are concerned?! lol.

Now coming to the year system - there is a special type of Calendar

popular in Kerala, which is known as 'Kollam' era. This era starts

with AD 825. There is various arguments about the beginning of the

era, and the astronomical and historical reasons behind it etc. I

think Chandrahari has participated in that controversy and contributed

his share to that muddle of arguments as well. :) Thy Kollam era uses

the same words as that of Signs for month names such as -

1. Chingam (Singa = Leo)

2. Kanni (Kanya = Virgo)

3. Tulam (Tula = Libra)

4. Vrischikam (Vrischika = Scorpio)

5. Dhanu (Dhanu = Sagatterious)

6. Makaram (Makara = Capricon)

7. Kumbham (Kumbha = Aquarious)

8. Meenam (Meena = Pisces)

9. Medam (Mesha = Aries)

10. Edavam (Vrishabha = Tarus)

11. Mithunam (Mithuna = Gemini)

12. Karkidakam (Karkita = Cancer)

Hope this helps.

Note: Don't be too serious about life, thinking about stupid things

and making mind worried even in sleep. Relax and Enjoy man!

Love and Hugs,

Sreenadh
