Shree Ganeshaya namah,

As an amateur reader of astrologer have read lot of books and postings

on various web sites. The sceince of interpreting Kundali (or the

rythmy of time as per Sreenadh) is very complex. It involves lot of

permutation and combination in order to arrive at correct judgement.

This being the case can astrologers just by looking at chart for couple

of minutes forecast the bhavishya of a native? Do they not ned to spend

at least couple of hours prior to verifying their judgement? Are

astrologers being fair to the querent?

Dear hmuttagi ji,

* Often detailed analysis is necessary to ascertain the correctness

of judgment

* Most of the astrologers are not sincere (Because astrology becomes

a tool for livelihood, money making, or fame); Sincere astrologers

are rare. But remember there could be a big exception. There are many

well learned professional astrologers who are very sincere (The

sincerity sprigs from the respect for astrology), even though they

are using astrology for livelihood. But there are many professional

and amateur astrologers(?) who does not have any understanding of the

system and are just cheaters, and mere seekers of money or fame. Just

like it is difficult to find a sincere professional astrologer, it is

also difficult to find a sincere amateur astrologer.

* Usually neither astrologers are fair to the querent, nor the

querent fair to the astrologer.

The querent usually wants the astrologer to waste his time and

energy, even though he does not even know that astrologer in person.

Usually he needs and even demands(!) a free reading, and is not

willing to pay enough money to the professional astrologer. Even when

he is ready to pay (thinking that he is consulting a professional

astrologer), he makes the astrologer's life miserable by too many

questions and by being addicted to astrology. He want the astrologer

to predict, what is the name of his family members, and to answer the

question why his wife quarreled with his yesterday!! When he is

consulting an amateur astrologer, he makes his life miserable by

demanding (!) the astrologer to waste much of his time and energy

behind the same. But is usually even reluctant to express gratitude.

* Astrology is a quest to know the future. A search, of the unknown

(agnostic). It gives some clues, and is pleasure to pursue, as long

as we are not addicted to it or depend too much on it, also as long

as we are not much bothered about our horoscope or future.

Love,

Sreenadh

Dear Sreenadh ji

In the last line you answered my question that has been troubling me

for sometime " also as long as we are not much bothered about our

horoscope or future " .

Also if this subject is for pure study pleasure how does it help

humanity? I read somewhere that initially astrology was used only for

mundane purposes like predicting welfare of the kingdom, crops etc.

Is that true? Is there any other purpose for this subject(science).

Kindly explain when you have some time.

Dear Hmuttagi ji,

I never said that this subject is for pure study pleasure alone. It

is also to serve the society. Astrologers were -

* were the advisors, for the king and the people.

* they were the psychological doctors for half sleeping, day

dreaming, humanity

* they were the people who are learned, conscious, dependable, and

sincere.

Astrology was a tool in the hand of astrologers, in serving many of

these purposes. Now too it is duty of the astrologer to serve the

society (if he takes up the path and responsibility). But if someone

is learning astrology just for pure study pleasure, that also is ok.

It is NOT the PURPOSE of any branch of knowledge to help humanity.

It is just that somebody just start using the knowledge to help or

serve humanity or to harm it.

<==

No, it is not.

==>

Is there any other purpose for this subject(science).

<==

Remember " No branch of knowledge has any purpose of its own " . Thus

like any other branch of knowledge, astrology too does not have any

purpose of its own. Many use knowledge for many things, and some

started using the knowledge of astrology for the purpose of

predicting future, directing or solacing people, etc.

Love,

Sreenadh

Namaste Sreenadh and Sri HmuttagiAstrology as a Vedanga is an important subject to understand oneself. It is an important tool to understand others and help them understand themselves. Supposing a person has a particular habit and if this habit is strengthened the likelihood of failure in career is evident, then, wouldn't it help to change the habit? Astrology works in identifying such traits. It helps in making you understand cause and effect. Most " causes " are within. Problems in life are nothing but events for which solution is not known. Is " 2+2 " a problem for you? - No. Because you know the answer is 4. Problems in life are only those whose solution isn't known. When solution is known, it ceases to be a problem. Astrology helps in discovering possible problems and helping you work on " Solutions " . Astrology isn't deterministic. It cannot be. For only past is deterministic and not future. Future is a complex equation between your present karma, your past, your attitude, time, place, and most importantly the Karma Phala Data (whom we call God). So past drives you to a particular place, you have the inherent strength of Free will to drive elsewhere. The steering wheel isn't power driven, but isn't stuck either. True Astrologers understand the limitations and uses of Astrology. The egoistic ones and know-it-all kinds should be avoided. This is a great science and beyond science subject. Study and discover it with loads of interest, inquisitiveness and love.
