Dear All,

I would like hearing your response about this book. Actually I am

just beginning to write this book only and what I have provided is

its first chapter. :)

Did you like it? What changes you will suggest? Did you find any

thing in it that does not tally with actual experience? Please let me

know. So that I can change it accordingly.

The purpose of the book is 2-fold.

1) Save the ancient Rishi hora slokas and make them survive

2) Present astrology in a simple to understand manner.

Do you think, such a presentation style can achieve both these

goals?

Dear Sreenadh

I find your article very meticulous and speaks volumes about your

painstaking efforts. I found the description of various astrology

schools and their orgins very informative. In case you will be

posting the next parts as mentioned in the index do let us all know.

Just one question- do ancient texts mention anything about the

influence of Herschel (uranus), varun(neptune),etc. for astrological

purpose?

Dear hmuttagi ji,

You asked:

==>

> Just one question- do ancient texts mention anything about the

> astrological purpose?

<==

The answer is 'No'. There is a corresponding explanation as well.

Astrology is a holistic subject. For every holistic subjects the

basic hypothetical constructs (concepts) are important. Signs, Houses

and Planets are constructs used by astrology. The plants (grahas)

mentioned in astrology represent such mental hypothetical constructs

rather than physical planets the gravitation or magnetic force of

which does not have much influence on us (human beings living on

earth). Whether it is 2 luminaries only, or 9 planets only, does not

much difference to astrology. The saints have selected whatever

knowledge is available to them at that the time of creation of this

branch of study to construct the system and the related constructs.

(There is nothing tricky in it) You will find a better elaboration of

this line of thought in the articles 'Base of Astrology' and 'Outline

of Holistic subjects' which are part of 'Introduction to Essence of

Astrology "

Dear Shri Sreenadh

Wishing you all the best and success in your endeavour.

It is great that you are prepared to share the vast knoweldege

acquired over years through/from classical shlokas and many

Gurus/learned souls(which is very fortunate). As squirrels some of us

are ever prepared to help you in constructing the bridge.

Considering astrology as a Holistic subject, and trying to understand

the basic constructs of astrology along the intentional line of

Hrishivaryas, alone can make us perceive the divine fragrance of the

eye of vedas.Let Lord give us the strength in bringing UP the TRUTH

which can never be destroyed, but may remain immersed/obscured for a

while. All our efforts to understand astrology, be it incomplete or

properly directed,is a journey towards OUR common goal and let TRUTH

alone prevail.

Your efforts to bring back attention of students towards basics ie -

Sign/house/planet -Sign/planet- House/Planet -Sign/House and

Sign/House/Planet is great.Varga sambandhas and drishtis will also

be revealed in the process.Looking for some formulas to make

predictions -if not found in rashi then some other place, else at

other place -but using some byhearted formula -is a common mistake

which we are making.Understanding HOLISTIC link between Signs their

divisions and planets alone can take us home and hope your

experience and knowledge will be an asset for many of us.

Thanks pradeep ji,

It is still and incomplete effort as of now and let the divine help

us in fulfilling it.

Please point out the pit falls and inconsistencies wherever it is.

If something is there that does not match with the known (especially

well known) horoscopes, please point it out. So that we can improve

our understanding.

Dear Sreenadhji,Actually, I recently joined this group hence I didn't had this message from you. I have gone through the first chapter. The idea to 'Save the ancient Rishi hora slokas and make them survive' is great. In most cases, I have found the article pretty much in sync with the actual experience. I recall u'r initiative in VA group on 'Let's Predict with Lagna alone' which to me was on similar lines and made us realize the importance of basics. Thanks for this and kindly continue the good work. This is certainly beneficial for the people like me who are novice in this great science.RegardsAshishkankan_73 <kankan_73 Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 2:46:08 PM Re: Seeking your opinion (About 'Essence of Indian Astrology')

Dear Kannan ji,

Thanks for the encouraging words. But I am waiting for the

criticisms like, " You said that sun in x house will do this. But it

never happened to me, nor it is true for x,x,x horoscopes I know.

Their birth details and actual experience are as follows. So you

should modify this portion. so and so ... " Hope somebody will come

up with such mails. Such constructive criticism can help me improve

this work.

P.B: Astrology is a group effort as well. When the experience of the

society is enclosed in aphorisms and linked with astrological

knowledge and logic, good texts originate. ;)

Dear Ashish ji,

Thanks for the encouraging words.

That sounds good. :) Thanks. Can u tell us a bit about the other

cases in which the derivations went wrong? Provide DOB/Time & Real

experience & Derivation given in Book and your observation about the

same.

All these positive minds are helping me a lot in following this

pursuit after astrology to bring out the essence, to search and

display the valuable pearls in better manner. :)

Dear Sreenadh ji,Mostly, the characteristics/derivations given as 'He'. I presume that the derivations should be similar in most cases for Women. Here, it is said for Sun in cancer lagna - The Native would have spiritual knowledge (yes, thats right but little), Eye related troubles like swelling (absolutely not). The native is of angry nature - i thought presence of Rahu in lagna is the reason.Egoistic attitude is right. Native is quite authoritative (Shouldn't be as per the article). Worrying nature about relatives is some what right.I hope I am not too rigorous on this but still this is what i felt hence writing. My main concern is for eye related issues since I don't find any eye related issue in

native.Having said all this, i understand that the article is more for indicative approach for the final conclusion. Please correct.Birth Details: 22nd july 1980, time 07:10 AM(Sun in cancer Lagna), Delhi.May God Bless us All !RegardsAshishSreenadh <sreesog Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 3:35:47 PM Re: Seeking your opinion (About 'Essence of Indian Astrology')

Be confident in your path â¤" every branch of knowledge has its own

beauty and value.

Hi Ashish,

Thanks for the valid response. :)

Point -1 : Is this applicable mainly to 'He' and not 'She'?

--------

Yes, mostly (no! For all) derivations given the term used is 'He',

because the sages used the same. That means, these derivations are

more applicable and accurate for men than women.

Of course, the statement " that the derivations should be similar in

most cases for Women " is also right. But still many of those

statements should have to be modified in case of women to be better

accurate.

Point -2 : Sun is Cancer Lagna and swelling in eyes

--------

The Sanskrit word used by the seers is 'Budbudaksha'. 'Budbuda'

means bubble or water bubble. 'Aksha' means eyes. I have translated

it as 'swelling in eyes', may be 'bulging eyes' is a better

translation. Can anybody clarify is there any other eye disease that

fits in with the original meaning of the Sanskrit word? [[::: This

should apply:::]]]

1999 - 2000 was Saturn>>Sun. Saturn is 2nd house, Sun in Lagna some

kind of eye disease should have occurred during this period for sure

(if this 'Budbudaksha' derivation is OK). But we don't need this

Vimsottari desa derivation to say 'The native will have some eye

disease if Sun is in Cancer Lagna'. So this desa derivation not much

relevant here. [[::: Discard This:::]]]

[This horoscope has a specialty concerning this issue. The second

lord Sun's navamsa falls in 2nd house, ie. Leo itself. - But let us

not consider this for the moment, since we don't

accept 'cancellation' of results; but only modification] [[:::

Discard This:::]]]

Is there anyone else with 'Sun in Cancer Lagna' who can verify about

that 'Budbudaksha' derivation given in many books for the same?

[[::: This should be true otherwise the derivation is wrong:::]]]

P.S.: " Having said all this, i understand that the article is more

for indicative approach for the final conclusion " . Absolutely right!

All our astrological efforts are of that kind only! ;)
