Guest guest
Dear Members, Is the Dharshan of great Mahatmas indicated in one's horoscope? I will be having the Dharshan of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Sun, Jun 18th 2006 ... perhaps after 10 am at His Bangalore Ashram (77e36 & 13n00). My birth details are as follows: 1140am on 13th Jan, 1955 at 76e18 10n00 (Ernakulam). This is purely an academic exercise for promoting better understanding of jyotish. Guest guest
Dear Pradeep ji, Astrologically speaking with this much exalted planets in the horoscope, Ravi sankar ji is defenitely a Mahatma. Considering his teachings as well, this statement holds good. I humbly bow at his feet. Guest guest
Dear Pradeep, Hare Krishna. On this date of May 13,1956, Rahu, the planet of legendry deceptive, transitting in the Scoropio sign (secretive and sentiments etc.), Ketu, the Spritual Planet in Taurus sign significator of materialistic pursuits and comforts etc. both rendering debilitated, and Mercury the planet of intelligence and discriminative power was exactly afflicted by Rahu besides the significators both Sun and Jupiter of Spirituality were extremely weak. These are not the sign and symptoms being born to be a Great Mahatma, in my opinion. Guest guest
Dear Amar, You may take Vrishchika lagna for birth on 13 th May 1956 at Papanasam near Kumbakonam, TN. You may also visit www.artofliving.org or www.artoflivingtn.org to know more about Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It is quite possible that there are many crooks in the " God Industry " ..... but nevertheless we should keep an open mind for the genuine ones among them..... or else only we will be the losers. If I should get the correct time of birth of Sri Sri I shall let you know. I had given my birth details only to find out if my chart promises the darshan of a Mahatma ... and if it does show then I believe he must be a Mahatma. This is ofcourse is an indirect way to verify. Regards, Pradeep - Amar Puri Monday, May 29, 2006 8:00 AM Re: Dharshan of great Mahatmas Dear Pradeep, Hare Krishna. My reading is purely based on the planetary configuration on that date for the Spirituality purpose only. Since, there is no time of birth available, it lacks and limits further reading about the native. More over, I have no any information about the native himself what you are referring to about mass appeal, miracles etc. Informatively I may mention that there are so many so called cheap Yogi (Great Mahatmas) travelling in this material world in the dress of a Sadhus whose motive are simply to mislead people at large on the name of Spirituality being personally motivated for material gain (sense gratifications) such as name, fame, followers and status etc. Hope it helps you. Guest guest
Hello Pradeep, Thank you for Sri Sri's birthday and place. I see his Jupiter and Mars are both exalted. Saturn is strong. The Sun resides in the sign of Mars. Venus and the Moon are conjunct possibly, (he's known as the guru of joy). Ketu is on top of Mercury giving him very sublime communications which I can vouch for. Sri Sri- Thou Art Supreme " That which is unmoved, like the ocean without waves, that which is free and pure, that which exists in the three periods of time---the past, present, and future---that supreme art Thou. Meditate on this and realize, right now. " The Illusion of self " The self as a different entity, an object, is what people are trying to see. That is an illusion. " It would also ruin his aspirations, he once said it was his karma to become a guru. It would also place him in spiritual groups. His organization hosted a 2 million people 25 year commemoration for the Art of Living in India this year. Prabhupad also had a severely afflicted Jupiter by Ketu. Also the Sun and Jupiter were weak by placement too, which ruined married life. (Cap lagna, rectified by Jorge.) The exalted and strong Mars aspects the Sun closely. And Mars aspects Jupiter closely. In Scorpio rising, Saturn is strong in the first. He is a man of the people. If it is Scorpio, Mars afflicts Jupiter and the Sun closely. If that's the case he has had to be quite patient and it shows his great service. Also family life, wealth and status are inhibited. As for you, exalted Jupiter aspects Mars, house of gains and aspirations lord. You are in a Moon period and the Moon is well placed in the house of happiness. I believe this qualifies you to see a great teacher. Mercury is in the house of deep esoteric study too, It is lord of the Moon and then Jupiter. This aligns you with great thinkers. On that day, Saturn and Mars are conjunct. At ten a.m they rule the house of knowledge and aspirations and are well placed. Guest guest
Dear List members, I am quite intrigued by the discussion on Sri Sri Ravishankar. The respected Professor says that unless one has accurate data, one should not venture into any kind of chart analysis. But I could not resist myself from participating in the discussion. I am providing my working understanding on Sri Sri's chart (conditional on the time of birth which I have picked up from earlier discussion). Before I proceed, I would wish to endorse Vyas and Sally's views. Well said Vyas. Let me put the Sri Sri discussion on hold for a while. Mr. Puri, I absolutely respect your skepticism about self-styled/self-appointed Gurus. I myself would be very cautious in the matter. Having said that, I can not refrain myself from going back to the first principles. A little introspection poses the following uneasy questions: Who appointed Rama, Krishna, Christ, Buddha, Mohammed......? Were they self appointed? Did someone appoint them? If so, can their " tenure " be " terminated " by someone as well? Did they speak on their own authority or on some other Scriptural authority? If they had the right to speak on their own authority, what precludes others from enjoying the same right? What is more spiritually authentic? Scriptural repitition or experiential bliss/agony (whatever it is)? We can choose to turn our back to such questions and opt for the easier, safer way of confirming to whatever the majority believes and to whatever we have been programmed to think since childhood. Or we can atleast acknowledge the questions. I have no intention of barging in on anyone's beliefs or hurt anyone's personal religious sentiments. I simply have some questions that I have shared. Nothing more. Let me now re-produce the Jyotish Tools output for the birth data of Sri Sri: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar May 13, 1956 10:00 AM -05:30 INT Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu Longitude: 79E22 Latitude: 10N58 Lahiri Ayanamsha: 23:14 Current Period: SA/RA/ME Planet Deg Sign Speed SA Nakshatra Lord ================================================ Asc 27:18 Gem Punarvasu Ju Sun 29:08 Ari +00:57:55 WK Krittika Su Moon 05:00 Gem +14:38:06 WK Mrigsira Ma Mars 24:23 Cap +00:36:24 WK Dhanishtha Ma Merc 15:33 Tau +00:06:37 WK Rohini Mo Jupt 29:13 Can +00:04:30 WK Aslesha Me Ven 09:56 Gem +00:34:27 ST Ardra Ra Sat R 06:49 Sco -00:04:24 WK Anuradha Sa Rahu 14:55 Sco +00:00:52 FM Anuradha Sa Ketu 14:55 Tau +00:00:52 FM Rohini Mo Rashi Chart ******************************************************* ** 4 * * 2 ** *5 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * KE 14:55 * * * JU 29:13* ME 15:33* * * * * MO 05:00 * * * * * 3 VE 09:56 * 1 SU 29:08* * * * AS 27:18 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * ** *6 * 12 * ** * * ** *7 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 9 * 11 * * * * * * * * SAR06:49* * * * * * RA 14:55 * * MA 24:23 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** 8 * * 10 ** ******************************************************* Navamsha ******************************************************* ** 4 * * 2 ** *5 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ME * * * * * KE * * * * * * * * *MA * 3 AS * 1 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * ** *6 SAR * 12 JU * ** * * ** *7 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SU * * * * * 9 VE * 11 * * * * * * * * MO * * * * * * RA * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** 8 * * 10 ** ******************************************************* My humble views on the chart follow: I begin by quoting the professor's guideline for a Gemini ascendant:- " Gemini is an airy sign ruled by Mercury, the significator of communication and confidence. These factors render the Geminians with excellent powers of speech and communication. They have an energetic nature and are always looking for change, interchange, motion and invention. IF THE MIND IS TURNED INWARDS, THE NATIVE HAS THE ABILITY TO PROGRESS FAR IN THE SPIRITUAL FIELD. Gemini gives an ambitious nature with imaginative ideas. They usually love knowledge and like much movement, change and initiative. Depending on the influences on the ascendant, the sign Gemini usually renders their natives with a sharp intellect and conscious mind, spontaneous, adaptable, analytical, educated, learned, helpful, with teaching abilities, intense sense of humor, wit and imagination or talkative, nervous, restless, agitated and indecisive. Geminians are persuasive, communicative and show diplomacy and tactfulness in their approach. " The analysis of planetary positions follows: Moon, which is L2, can tend to offer good status, reputation, healthy living and happy family life (However, a closely afflicted and badly placed Mercury may be a serious obstacle to marital life). Though it is weak due to debilitation in D9 and it is not bright, the benefic aspect from a strong Venus can help in recovering the lost ground. H2 further gets a boost due to a benefic impact from Jupiter and Mars. Sun is well placed and aspected by FB Mars. At the same time, it becomes weak due to old age and weakness of dispositor. Sun being L3 tends to make one an orator, leader, an author and a courageous person. Sun is posited in H11 and a link between the oratory skills and income/gains/ " friends " (following?) is fairly imminent. Further, Mars has a benefic impact on H3 making the native adept at communication, enterprise and initiative. Mercury, which is L4 is badly placed and closely afflicted by Rahu and Ketu, which indicates towards serious problems related to parents, education, asset acquisition, nervous pressure and matrimonial relations. Also, it could mean lack of persistence and focus. The same does not seem to be empirically verified with this birth time. A strong Venus, which is L5 is placed in the asendant makes the native charming and intelligent. It is good for progenic matters (if wanted). A strong venus signifies all that is GRACEFUL along with sociability, worldly knowledge, PSYCHIC ABILITY, correct behaviour, gentleness, etc. Being L5, it can also offer the native good memory, creative intelligence, SPIRITUAL PURSUITS, wisdom, ORGANIZATIONAL CAPABILITY, most of which we can identify with Sri Sri. THE 5TH HOUSE (DHARMA TRIKONA) IS OTHERWISE STRONG TOO. THERE IS NO MALEFIC INFLUENCE HERE. Jupiter, L7, is well placed and has a benefic Martian influence but from a bad house. However, it is weak due to old age and a weak dispositor. As such, the 7th house significations can suffer of which the principal ones are the MARITAL AFFAIRS, LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS, professional and partnership issues and problematic foreign travels. A weak Jupiter asks for care with liver and pancreas. At the first look, the empirical observation of the native's life does not quite fit with a badly placed Saturn in the 6th house. The learned list will notice that too. For a Gemini native to have good fortune, well-to-do parents, interest in spirituality, good luck, etc. Saturn needs to be strong and not placed in the house of disputes and worries (H6). It must however be noted that; (1) Saturn is otherwise strong and (2) the 6th house in itself is strong enough. It is a Non-MT house with no malefic impact. Further, there is a close benefic impact from the divine planet Jupiter. I therefore suspect that the native is generally immune against losses, enemies, disputes and financial problems and should have a good functional health. Mars, which is L11, is badly placed in the 8th house but like Saturn, it is strong on all other accounts. In addition, it has a benefic Jove impact. There is a lot of inter-connection going on here. Have a look: L11 is placed in H8 (H8, among other things rules mystical sciences, occult, transformations, etc.). So, the income and gains are linked to such activities. Such income and gains get a bit of boost from a close impact of benefic Sun (L3) on H11. Mars also aspects H3 from H8. H8 is further influenced by benefic (spiritual?) Jupiter giving a spiritual touch to 8th house matters indicated before??? The Non MT houses are 1,3,6,8,10,12 and none of them have any malefic influences. In fact, 3,6,8 and 10 houses have benefic influences. H10 concerns one's karma, honor and character apart from living abroad. H12, among other things deals with life in foreign lands, transcendence, enlightenment, etc. Rahu is in H6 and non-afflicting to any house or planet except Mercury. It can create tensions with mysterious diseases and losses. Its affliction to Mercury can pose problems with the skin, nervous system and stomach (lower abdomen). Addiction? Ketu in H12 adversely affects sleep, mental peace and romantic relationships. Also it promotes expenses. A non-afflicting Ketu in H12 may offer interest in occult and spiritual studies? (A 9th house non-afflicting position would have been better?) However, both H6 and H12 have no dispositor. So, there can be no problem with a weak dispositor of these houses and they are otherwise quite strong. So, the intensity of nodal problems may not be that pronounced. All in all, the chart seems a mixed bag. Honestly, if I were to see this chart without knowing that it belongs to Sri Sri, a prognosis that matches empirical reality may or may not have taken place. Knowing the person tells you what to look for….. We may need an exact birth time. Or as Vyas has already said, “by the the mercy of one's guru and hard work along spiritual lines, all good things are possible and the evils indicated in one's chart can be transformed into positives as long as one walks the straight and narrow.†With warm regards Chandra Shekhar Amar Puri <absolutefinancial Monday, May 29, 2006 10:29:21 PM Re: Dharshan of great Mahatmas Dear Sally and Pradeep, Here are my comments in CAP. letters appended below in the message. Guest guest
I returned this morning to Chennai from Bangalore after a very wonderful Sunday (18/06/06) at the Ashram of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It was a one day refresher course for all TN "Art of Living" members. About 3800 people from TN attended. SRSS came to the stage at 1121 hrs and was with us till 1320 hrs. Again He came out at 4 15pm and was talking to the National Channels. Shiv Khera gave an excellent motivational speech for nearly one hour till 5 30 pm. This program was in the mantap. After this there was a general satsangh on the open lawns with the beautiful Visalakshi Mantap forming the backdrop. It was particularly a divine sight as the mantap was fully lit-up with about 8000 people attending an evening of Q & A, meditation & Bhajans. This satsangh lasted from 530pm till 645pm. I have tried to get His exact birth time. Someone there has promised to send these details to me at the earliest. Tentatively, an inmate of the Ashram told me that he was born under the Arudhra star just a little after minight of May 12, 1956 (or in the early hours of May 13th, 1956) at Papanasam, near Kumbhakonam in TN. I am awaiting confirmation. Regards,Pradeep - sree nadh Sunday, May 28, 2006 1:23 PM Re: Dharshan of great Mahatmas Dear Pradeep ji, Astrologically speaking with this much exalted planets in the horoscope, Ravi sankar ji is defenitely a Mahatma. Considering his teachings as well, this statement holds good. I humbly bow at his feet.
