I don't know about any books that may suit your purpose. May be the

book " Rasichakram " by chandrahari may help you a bit in this regard.

But it not a book aimed at teaching astronomy to students - but

discusses things related to the origin of the mathematical concept

called Rasichakra.

Any preliminary book of astrology will do. You can get many in the

market.

Dear Sreekumar, Actually you should have asked this question to the Great scholar K Chandra Hari, who is a master in this subject, and who published an excellent panchang captioned "Sivashasan"recently . Still I will answer it , though I am fully aware it is like me carrying coal to New castle, when Hari is in this list. You should read 1, Deepak Kapoor's "Astronomy and Mathematical Astrology" (Ranjan Publications) 2, Dr S Madhavan's "Ayanamsa" 3, Hindu Astrological Calculation by Usha-Sashi(revised) You may also contact Sri P K Ayyapan Menon, who is an expert in this matter at astroshakthi or contact him directly over telephone 0484-2462306 . Dear MadhuJi , Sreenadh Ji and Chandra Hari Ji Thanks for the reply . Iam sorry i did not address this to Master Chandra Hari Ji , as i was not aware that this list also included him . I was in the impression that you two drive the list , any way my sincere appologises for not pointing this question to chandra hari ji. I would like to put this question to Chandra Hari ji and get his words on books on Astronomical Basics I have gone through usha - shashi book of vedic astrology calculation . it is not pure vedic , they have lot of western ideas also . Moreover , the book does not have any fundamental touch , even the first chapter in the book talks of lot of things that reader should already know(May be iam still not geared to that level) Where can i get the book of Dr Madhavan Ayanamsha , what publication is it? Thanks for the leeds , thanks & regards Sreekumar VYASAJI <vyasatvm wrote: Dear Sreekumar, Actually you should have asked this question to the Great scholar K Chandra Hari, who is a master in this subject, and who published an excellent panchang captioned "Sivashasan"recently . Dear Sreekumar ji,

We all together drive the list. :) There is no special drivers. :)

Chandra hari ji and Madhu ji are special with there knowledge of

astrology, like many others Pandit ji, Arjun ji, Bharat ji, Srinivas

ji, Vernamaligia ji, Vinita ji, Vijayadas padeep ji, Pradeep ji etc.

There are many silant knowledgebale members like Dakshinamoorti ji,

Graham ji etc is also present.

It is the group and the togetherness that drives the group, and not

persons. :)

Of course, Chandra hari could have answered your question in

beautiful way - but finding time is at times a very difficult task -

Hari ji is at times busy with many tasks and research efforts. I used

to feel that it is better to learn from the works of such hardworking

knowledgeable persons than to disturb them with small small doubts.

But of course when we ask a question someone will come up with an

answer, and quest for knowledge continues for every one. We all are

happy brethren of a single astrological family. Interest in astrology

is that soft but strong thread, that unites us. :)

Of course if Chandrahari ji comes up with answers to even such small

requests, I would be happy, since I too can learn a lesson or two

from that. But then for sure we are taking away his precious time.

Each person is unique, in his nature, quest of knowledge and

selection of questions to be answered. :)

Love,

Sreenadh
