Guest guest
Namaste Seema: The ancients had great wisdom. They created a system of spiritual/meditation/ physical exercises called yoga. Yoga is very effective with depression as well. As a graduate researcher in psychology, I can tell you that yoga has great power in all sorts of mental health issues. You can find simple asanas for free. Start with the sun salutation. It is here: http://www.santosha.com/asanas/suryanamaskar.html For will power you can simply do the up dog, down dog or a simple sit up exercise. This is because the will power center is in your solar plexus. Obesity, I would again follow the wisdom of the ancients. No fast food. Eat a vegetarian diet. I have found that as I get older, I cannot drink or consume dairy. It tends to make me fat even though I am Lacto-vegetarian. Negative attitude. Meditation greatly enhances attitude. Exercise enhances attitude and will power. You can sit quietly in the early morning and clear your mind. Often those of us who are beginning meditation find this difficult. You can chant, " Om " for five minutes and see if this quiets your mind. Clearing the mind of negative thoughts re-sets the mind so to speak. We keep repeating the same negative ideas over and over on a loop. Forcing the mind to be still makes us aware of this negative tendency. Sometimes when we have a negative attitude we tend to see everything from a negative light and bicker with our spouse or whoever is around us. Shanti Om! Shankari Enquire: 'Who am I?' and you will find the answer. Look at a tree: from one seed arises a huge tree; from it comes numerous seeds, each one of which in its turn grows into a tree. No two fruits are alike. Yet it is one life that throbs in every particle of the tree. So, it is the same Atman everywhere. --Sri Anandamayi Ma http://shankarikali.wordpress.com/
