Guest guest
Dear Rr and Krishna ji, Well this observation of RRji is nothing new if he opens the scope wider it is not just English it is most branches of learning are better understood and used by ppl from the south, south has also the distinction of plural language learning the essential to make ones brain work better, a few languages add value to the brains reserves. family planning too is again a south tradition smaller, healthier, wealthier and better educated families, only draw back is that has made them less adventerous unlike the North indians or Western Indians. who take risk and get into business no risk no rewards is their way, south is more conservative a bit bookis in fears too astrology has max sen ppl from south like B Suryanarana rao the 1st to bring book s into Englis and also start the AM, later his grandson raman and his daughter etc have done their bit KN RAO ji or krishna ji hail from south but are more Northerners so too is Pt arjun. sunil nair etc some have done well in north, other south indian stalwarts V Subramnaya shastry and M Rakshna Bhatt did a lot of classical works into English, P S SHASTRY, PS IYER, Divakaram venketa subba rao, KP, kadalangudi saraswathi, r santhanam, N sunderaraja was the 1st to bring software into it from KCP 4 decades ago along with some from IIS bangalore same time again south brains. It is not exactly so as some very good astrologers in Delhi and in surrounding areas are playing key role with reference to ICAS.infact several contribution in star teller ,even forsaken AM and Times Astrology and KN Raos Journal indicate very good contribution that lead light to the growth and development of jyotish. About names and phonetics nothing can be done as Iam not very proficient in my native language but in working knomledge in rest of the languages prevalent in India.may be Hindia or any other lanaguage for reasonal benifits and participation is a welcoming feture.I think some of the blogs are likely to promote in this directions. with regards vrkrishnan --- On Tue, 11/4/08, Rohiniranjan <rohini_ranjan@ hotmail.com> wrote: Rohiniranjan <rohini_ranjan@ hotmail.com> Just out of curiosity Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 6:46 PM Over the years I have noted that a larger proportion of people who are interested in jyotish -- (seriously interested and not those occassional visitors that crash-land, hurl a few insults and are gone like vapourware :-)) -- happen to hail from South India or at least have South Indian names. Now I know that South India has always had a strong representation both in terms of publications and astrologers and nadi system etc. For a long time it was believed that more south indians were proficient in english so it could be a bit of sampling bias that may exist in the observation of more south indians expressing interest in jyotish. But that should not be a problem since from what I hear english has become very prevalent in north india as well. Maybe jyotish is better preserved and more revered in South India or south indian families in general. Intriguing.. . RR
