Guest guest
Over the years I have noted that a larger proportion of people who are interested in jyotish -- (seriously interested and not those occassional visitors that crash-land, hurl a few insults and are gone like vapourware :-)) -- happen to hail from South India or at least have South Indian names. Now I know that South India has always had a strong representation both in terms of publications and astrologers and nadi system etc. For a long time it was believed that more south indians were proficient in english so it could be a bit of sampling bias that may exist in the observation of more south indians expressing interest in jyotish. But that should not be a problem since from what I hear english has become very prevalent in north india as well. Maybe jyotish is better preserved and more revered in South India or south indian families in general. Intriguing... RR
Guest guest
Dear ShriRohini Da, Long time to address you and this mail seems to be the right one to greet as well as endorse my views. It is not exactly so as some very good astrologers in Delhi and in surrounding areas are playing key role with reference to ICAS.infact several contribution in star teller ,even forsaken AM and Times Astrology and KN Raos Journal indicate very good contribution that lead light to the growth and development of jyotish. About names and phonetics nothing can be done as Iam not very proficient in my native language but in working knomledge in rest of the languages prevalent in India.may be Hindia or any other lanaguage for reasonal benifits and participation is a welcoming feture.I think some of the blogs are likely to promote in this directions. with regards vrkrishnan --- On Tue, 11/4/08, Rohiniranjan <rohini_ranjan wrote: Rohiniranjan <rohini_ranjan Just out of curiosity Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 6:46 PM Over the years I have noted that a larger proportion of people who are interested in jyotish -- (seriously interested and not those occassional visitors that crash-land, hurl a few insults and are gone like vapourware :-)) -- happen to hail from South India or at least have South Indian names. Guest guest
Krishnan Dada! For someone who is 5+ years older than me and a lot wiser as all here know, please allow me to apologize for your kindness and overestimated and obviously mistaken *address*! Before someone jumps in and reminds us of the proper Indian decorum and how to address others on an Indian forum and the 'ji' and all that!! I just wish and hope and pray that these posters were sincere! Truth be told -- personally, I have learned more from south indian jyotishis (origin or domicile) so I have no problem with the author who makes me sit up and say, " AHA! " What worries me is that these experiences are becoming fewer and far between...
