Satyanarayana Fast on Saturday to be kept or not (ECLIPSE)

Dear All,

 

It's full moon (poornima) on 16th August, 2008 (Saturday). Also there will be

eclipse. So one should keep fast or not for Lord Satya Narayana. Please let me

know your opinion.

Poornima spreads over from 2.15 AM on 16th August to 2.48 AM on 17th

August.Eclipse occurs at the tail end of Poornima.

One can observe fasting on 16th August 2008, however THOSE WHO ARE IN THE HABIT

OF TAKING SRI SATYANARAYANA POOJA PRASAD MAY CONVENIENTLY PERFORM IT ON THE

MORNING OF 16THAUGUST.

noon.The eclise sets in after 3.45p.m.

All religious observations at home  including keeping fast 'coz of puja can be

done/performed

Dear Vattem Krishnan Ji

All Poojaas can be performed by 2.00 pm, but normally Satyanaaraayan

Poojaa's done in the evening, besides the fast of Poornimaa is broken

after seeing the Moon. Then how these two things will happen?

 

Besides what should those people do where the lunar eclipse is not

seen? Can they do all Poojaas in the evening? What about fast?

Because fast is broken by seeing the Moon only?

dear bhagvati - in dharm shastras - no where mentioned that one cant

not keep fast on Purnima on grahan. you can keep fast and worship

lord narayana, whithout a second thought.

This Saturday is also Lord Balarama's Appearance Day, so I dont think an

eclipse can eclipse such an auspicious day and any fasting would be

beneficial.

Sir,

Satayanarayan pooja as per convinience can be done.only exception however grahan

time it is avoided.Doing satyanaratan pooja during evening is dependent on ones

own conveneince

Thanks for your reply. So, pooja time needs to be shifted that is it should not

be done when eclipse is there.
