Saturn retrograde in 9th = makes one spiritual to the core. Whereas Jupiter retro in the 9th or 5th = turns one materialistic. (4) natural benefics retrograde in kendra(quadrant) / trikona (trine) loose some of their power to do good...venus or moon in 4th or jupier/mercury in lagna loose their directional strength....(One dreams a lot but implements a little) Natural benefics if retrograde/ natural malefics in direct motion in trines makes the person aggressive, vindictive and greedy in nature....if the same planet owns a quadranat and trine from lagna.. the negative result may get reduced to some extent. Guest guest Posted February 3, 2009 Report Share Posted February 3, 2009 Think of it this way: When a so-called outer planet is retrograde, the 'nativity' [earth] is passing it by. The nativity is moving too fast and tends to not be able to absorb or agree with the energy that the retrograde planet represents (karakattwa-wise). By itself, it is not good or bad unconditionally but just opens a different way of viewing things and often that is inherent in the life-plan of the nativity. Retrograde saturn could lead to arrogance which is brought on to ignore a deeply-felt sense of humility and inadequacy. It is almost as if one hastily wishes to leave the scene of embarassment if I am able to communicate the analogy to you, given the limited medium and my equally limited abilities. Retrogression does not change the inherent attributes of the planet (uchchaa or neecha etc) but what is strikingly different is that the nativity who is 'speeding' would not be able to connect to or assume the gunas of the saturn, for instance. So sometimes it may seem as if retrograde exalted saturn is not imparting its bounty and the debilitated retrograde is not giving its expected punishment! Either way, the intrinsic lessons of the outer planet are lost and the nativity will 'repeat the grade!' This is not inevitable or absolutely destined for what would then be the purpose of astrological insight? In creating space for contemplation and focusing on the retrograde outer planets, should we be blessed so, and not rushing on with what may seem like the worldly agenda, the *practical* way to proceed -- we may do some good to our-selves and save ourselves a repeat performance! I will not elaborate further.
