I have not used it but I have heard very good things about PVR

Narasimha Rao's software. PVR is an accomplished jyotishi, teacher

and a fine engineer and programmer. The software is FREE.

Maybe it is just a single case but I have had problems running PL 7.0

on XP systems.

1) When running on a laptop with XP home the program crashed each

time I saved a chart. The chart got saved alright but the constant

rebooting (particularly because some of my work involved changing

parameters and resaving the charts)

2) I sent the error files to Geovision and a response came from India

that indicated that my XP was corrupted and I should reinstall XP.

3) I had an opportunity to get access to a new desktop with XP

professional. The same problem! What are the odds of two XP computers

(one spanking new!) showing the same problem? My guess is that it is

the vista optimization that made the program a bit sensitive on XP.

4) I went back to the much more stable and error free (for me at

least) version 6.0 of PLight. Even though I miss the better location

change option on 7.0 and a few other features. I have used PL for

some 15 years now (several versions) and it definitely is a reliable

program in terms of calculations, although glitches have been noted

from time to time in the atlas and its file management operations

have always 'sucked'! It also underutilizes its yoga feature by not

allowing it to be used for customized searches which would have

enormously enhanced its research potential.

not according to the web-blurrb Krishnan ji. Maybe you were trying an

older version. But I do not wish to speculate because I have not used

it. Is there someone who has used JH and can confirm its

compatibility? We should work with the best possible updated

information always :-)

As in astrology, so in astrology software!

Have you informed the originator of the program about this problem? I

think all users of freeware/shareware/even commercial software owe it

to the provider of our software. How else would they know :-)

www.parashara.com

Always go right to the source when it is so readily available on
