Guest guest
Namaste Dr. S. Mehta, The ayanamsha is an adjustment factor applied to the tropical method of calculating the location of the grahas in the zodiac. The ayanamsha is an attempt to compensate for the earth's precession, e.g. the wobble of the earth's spin in its axis. This is similar to the wobble of a spinning toy top. There are several aynamshas proposed by various jyotishis, including BV Raman. However, most jyotishis consider the Lahiri ayanamsha to be accurate. Specifically, KN Rao recommends the use of Lahiri ayanamsha for casting the horoscope.
