Guest guest
dear arjunji this is a very informative post and sure has a lot of food for thought apart from what ramayana , vishnu puranas says also must be taken into perspective as listed by you. and sicne the scheme of the rakshas-Jaya, Vijaya the dwara palakas of Vaikunta [vishnu's base] taking 3 lives by the curse of Druva for not allowing him a darshanduring a private time of the Lord. this chapter of Jalandhara, Vrinda etc r also part of the total picture the other side is more important I mean the last line where u said if one is a evil person also the virtue by chastity of him can save the evil man, this has more examples in ramayana itself in Ravana's wife [who was also Vali's wife-but still a Pativrata, Indrajit's wife's prayers as a pativratha also helped both of them in their toughest moments which were similarly distracted by the devatas to finally end their chapters [lives of evil men] I WANT TO MAKE MY STAND clear here [least it be taken from a male chauvinists angle] that is chastity limited to WOMEN? it is a yes and no know from the above examples how these evil men's wiveshave prayed to protect their husbands lives, these people were good to many but bad to some in a big way. is chastity limited to women? YES in the sense that all FEMALE species have limited sexual life compared to males be it cows, whales, elephants or wild animals apart from human beings as nature has made female species the real care givers with more energy, patience forgiveness, time to nurture, protect and care for the young and old members of the species. though in all cases we do see male species take care there are times when we see cats being fed by dogs etc but these r rare so the mechanism to care is natural to women/female species and as long as their energy is not diluted they are far stronger than men [even the so called bad/evil men as it is the goodness of their wives that keep their lamp of life glowing I have always addressed women's issues with more attention in any group as said they r the real care givers if they r happy so will the rest of the society around them, today their challenges are a lot more apart from care they do lend financial strength to families and where even sons have deserted parents they have stood solidly behind them it is a natural trait for caring by women if some sons have deserted their parents it is some weak womens role too but some day they will get back to their roots and be fine.so guiding such people is also important and here too may be curses of previous lives to suffer may be part of it and the characters there r just players in natures games or stage [drama] what we see and suffer or enjoy is part of such a scheme arjunji a great post anyway Best wishes panditarjun2004 <panditarjun2004 wrote: dear friends many people wonder as to why king rama suffered various hardships like fourteen years of secluded life in jungles (equivalent to life imprisonment under present Indian law) and separation from wife and children etc. several astrologers tried to cast king rama's chart based on the descriptions given in valmiki Ramayana and find out astrological reasons for his troubles but astrologically his chart is the best one could imagine. The only reason for the sufferings of king rama or lord rama in human form (a reincarnation of lord Vishnu) is due to the curse received by lord Vishnu from pativratas (chaste women) for outraging their modesties by deceit. once upon a time brihaspati (jupiter) and indra (king of devatas) visited kailasha to meet lord shiva and to test them, shiva appeared in the form of a digambara and not realizing it, indra tries to kill him with his thunderbolt due to which lord shiva gets furiated and releases fire from his third eye. realizing the anger of lord shiva, jupiter makes indra fall at the feet of shiva and prays to lord shiva to shower mercy and spare indra after which lord shiva lets the fire released from his third eye thrown into the salt ocean (lavanambodhi) and this fire that has fallen into this ocean takes the form of a boy called jalandhara. since jupiter helped indra get his life back, lord shiva grants the name of jeeva (enlivener) to jupiter. later realizing the strength of jalandhara, brahma blesses him to become the emperor of asuras and asks sukra (venus) to coronate and later performs jalandhara's marriage with vrinda, the daughter of kalanemi. seeing the headless rahu, jalandhara finds out the reason for rahu's headlessness and decides to fight with vishnu. in the battle, sukra used to bring back the dead asuras to life with his mritasanjivini vidya and jupiter used to bring back the dead devatas to life with rarest herbs found only in drona mountain. knowing this, jalandhara uproots the drona mountain and throws into the ocean. (drona mountain is now in the almora district of kumaon). jalandhara fights battle with vishnu and make vishnu and his family live in jalandhara's house and conquers all the three worlds. vishnu could not win the battle since jalandhara is born out of lord shiva. then sage narada hatches a plot and tells jalandhara to go and get parvati who is the most beautiful woman in the world. narada also tells that once even brahma fell to the beauty of parvati but was cursed by siva which was a different story. then jalandhara goes to manasasarovar and find parvati who gets vanished after spotted by jalandhara and asks Vishnu to outrage the modesty of jalandhara's wife saying that as long as his wife is chaste, due to her power, jalandha cannot be killed even by shiva. jalandhara becomes busy in kailasa to get paravati and fight lord shiva. vishnu cast (maya) a bad dream for vrinda, the wife of jalandhara after which vrinda goes into the forest and find two monsters fleeing from which she approaches a brahmin who kills these monsters with a mere sound. then vrinda asks this brahmin to let her know the status of jalandhara who had gone to fight shiva and this brahmin lets two monkeys bring the deadbody of jalandhar in front. vrinda falls at the feet of this brahmin and prays to him to bring back jalandhara to life and lo, jalandhara (vishnu in disguise) wakes up and embraces vrinda and have sex only after which she realizes that it was vishnu and not jalandhara and curses vishnu to take a human shape and then his wife would be distracted by two rakshasas, the same two monsters who made vrinda to approach this deceitful brahmin. like this brahmin, a demon in disguise as a brahmin approaches your wife and abducts her. like me, you would also search for your wife in jungles. since you used monkeys to bring a false deadbody of my husband, you would not find your wife without taking the help of real monkeys. after giving these curses, the chaste vrinda enters into a fire and attains salvation. from the above, it is clear that vishnu took a human shape only due to the curse of vrinda and his search in jungles, deceit by the rakshasas, his wife taken away by another person, taking the help of monkeys is all due to the curse of vrinda, a pativrata. these stories also highlight the power of a chaste woman by signifying that even if the husband of a chaste woman is bad, he would become invincible due to the power of his wife. since these stories find mention in various puranas, astrologers who prepared the chart of rama based on the details given in valmiki ramayana, may find out how these curses are reflected in his chart. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
dear prashantji to answer your question, chastity is not meant only for women and it applies to both men and women. all these stories highlight how a chaste woman was powerful enough to give curses to gods and how an unchaste husband even if he is a god, earned curses and suffered hardships. the underlying lesson one must learn from these mythological stories from our puranas is that a man's future is not decided squarely by astrology alone and there are various other factors which can change the course of the future. firstly it is the accrual of good or bad karmas from the previous birth. then the fresh good and bad karmas done in this birth would negate or aggravate the previous bad karma results. simply put, the karma theory catches up and hence one shall always strive to do only good karmas. secondly the curses and blessings (boons) by parents, elders, righteous brahmins, sages, saints and gods have the power to completely change the future which is evident from various stories narrated in the puranas. thirdly, with freewill and by penance, one can attain salvation, become enlightened and get freed from the karmic cycle. fourthly, evil eye or black magic is something which is done by enemies and others and the victim is ignorant and cant do anything as it is known only after these acts are done. hence, my humble submission is that the natives must not focus more on knowing the predictive part of astrology but shall rather be interested in solving their problems and get relief from their sufferings through divine holy remedies as mentioned in the puranas. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , Prashant Kumar G B <gbp_kumar wrote: > > dear arjunji > > this is a very informative post and sure has a lot of food for thought apart from what ramayana , vishnu puranas says also must be taken into perspective as listed by you. > > and sicne the scheme of the rakshas-Jaya, Vijaya the dwara palakas of Vaikunta [vishnu's base] taking 3 lives by the curse of Druva for not allowing him a darshanduring a private time of the Lord. > > this chapter of Jalandhara, Vrinda etc r also part of the total picture > > the other side is more important I mean the last line where u said if one is a evil person also the virtue by chastity of him can save the evil man, this has more examples in ramayana itself in Ravana's wife [who was also Vali's wife-but still a Pativrata, Indrajit's wife's prayers as a pativratha also helped both of them in their toughest moments which were similarly distracted by the devatas to finally end their chapters [lives of evil men] > > I WANT TO MAKE MY STAND clear here [least it be taken from a male chauvinists angle] > > that is chastity limited to WOMEN? Guest guest
Shri Panditji, Pranams. With due respects to your seniority, and Knowledge . To highlight the power of chastity in a women, we need not raise a cock and bull story, which cannot be verified, or may have been inserted in the places from wher you have picked it, by a Tamasic directed mind,. I do not believe Lord Vishnu in any form could outrage the modesty of a Lady, due to any reason. If You had to highlight this point, then please use examples of Mandodari, or Dhruvs Mother, or Prahlads mother, or Laxmans wife, and so many others in our Puranic literature. We need not use a unauthenticated unverificable negative to highlight a positive. There are 5-7 reasons given in the Books, one of them was mentioned by Shri Prashantji (Jay Vijay).,which reasons seem too proper and logical for the Incarnation of Lord Vishnu as King Shri Rama. And do not forget the curse received by Lord Dashratha in hus youth when he killed a old blind person drinking water by mistake, which also is the reason for Lord ramas exile. By the way forget chastity, if in todays world women knew how to speak to their husbands, then 80% of the homes would have looked like mini heavens. This does not mean that husbands are spotless, but speed and money are the pivots of times today, and chastity takes back seat . So then whom are we addressing ? You also said prepare Lord Ramas chart as per Valmiki Ramayana. Here it is difficult to predict for ordinary human beings horoscope, then how could one think of commenting an avataars chart ? The rest of your points are well taken and accepted, including the main one. 1) Power of chastity can secure the husband from physical calamities as well as progress in after Life states. I agree that a mans Future stands on these factors- 1) firstly it is the accrual of good or bad karmas from the previous birth . 2) secondly the curses and blessings (boons) by parents, elders, righteous brahmins, sages, saints and gods have the power to completely change the future. 3) thirdly, with freewill and by penance, one can attain salvation, become enlightened and get freed from the karmic cycle. 4) fourthly, evil eye or black magic is something which is done by enemies and others and the victim is ignorant and cant do anything . I also agree your statement that - the natives must not focus more on knowing the predictive part of astrology but shall rather be interested in solving their problems and get relief from their sufferings through divine holy remedies as mentioned in the puranas. I have just given my views, as you have given yours, so nothing to be taken personally. Yours affectionately, Bhaskar. , " panditarjun2004 " <panditarjun2004 wrote: > > dear prashantji > > to answer your question, chastity is not meant only for women and it > applies to both men and women. all these stories highlight how a > chaste woman was powerful enough to give curses to gods and how an > unchaste husband even if he is a god, earned curses and suffered > hardships. > > the underlying lesson one must learn from these mythological stories > from our puranas is that a man's future is not decided squarely by > astrology alone and there are various other factors which can change > the course of the future. > > firstly it is the accrual of good or bad karmas from the previous > birth. then the fresh good and bad karmas done in this birth would > negate or aggravate the previous bad karma results. simply put, the > karma theory catches up and hence one shall always strive to do only > good karmas. > > secondly the curses and blessings (boons) by parents, elders, > righteous brahmins, sages, saints and gods have the power to > completely change the future which is evident from various stories > narrated in the puranas. > > thirdly, with freewill and by penance, one can attain salvation, > become enlightened and get freed from the karmic cycle. > > fourthly, evil eye or black magic is something which is done by > enemies and others and the victim is ignorant and cant do anything as > it is known only after these acts are done. > > hence, my humble submission is that the natives must not focus more > on knowing the predictive part of astrology but shall rather be > interested in solving their problems and get relief from their > sufferings through divine holy remedies as mentioned in the puranas. > > with best wishes and blessings > pandit arjun > www.rudraksharemedy.com > > , Prashant Kumar G B > <gbp_kumar@> wrote: > > > > dear arjunji > > > > this is a very informative post and sure has a lot of food for > thought apart from what ramayana , vishnu puranas says also must be > taken into perspective as listed by you. > > > > and sicne the scheme of the rakshas-Jaya, Vijaya the dwara palakas > of Vaikunta [vishnu's base] taking 3 lives by the curse of Druva for > not allowing him a darshanduring a private time of the Lord. > > > > this chapter of Jalandhara, Vrinda etc r also part of the total > picture > > > > the other side is more important I mean the last line where u said > if one is a evil person also the virtue by chastity of him can save > the evil man, this has more examples in ramayana itself in Ravana's > wife [who was also Vali's wife-but still a Pativrata, Indrajit's > wife's prayers as a pativratha also helped both of them in their > toughest moments which were similarly distracted by the devatas to > finally end their chapters [lives of evil men] > > > > I WANT TO MAKE MY STAND clear here [least it be taken from a male > chauvinists angle] > > > > that is chastity limited to WOMEN? Guest guest
dear bhaskarji the succinct story mentioned by me is given in a more detailed comprehensive manner in various puranas published by the most trustworthy and respected publishers. you would find this story in its original fashion in the following books which you may kinldy refer to verify, authenticate and validate: 1. The Siva Purana, Four Volumes published by Motilalbanarsidas. In the second volume, page 904 is under chapter titled " outraging the modesty of vrinda " you would find this story. this comes under rudra samhita, yuddhakhanda, section v in all shivpurans publsihed anywhere in the world. 2. Shri Shiva Mahapurnam published by Chaukhamba Sanskrut Pratisthan. under dwitiya samhita called rudra samhita, panchama adhyaya, 23rd chapter, page 739 narrates this story in detail. in this book you would find both sanskrit verses and hindi translations for your easy understanding. let me also explain that i dont copy and paste any story from the web. i read these puranas after buying them physically costing thousands of rupees and read all sanskrit, hindi and english versions and write in the mails on my own. hence i would be thankful to members like you who ask references or sources of these stories i write so that you can safely assume that whatever i say is corroborated scripturally. as regards other points which you agreed, we all shall help the natives do good karmas and advise good things rather than merely knowing the predictions. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , " Bhaskar " <bhaskar_jyotish wrote: > > > Shri Panditji, > > Pranams. > With due respects to your seniority, > and Knowledge . > > To highlight the power of chastity in a women, > we need not raise a cock and bull story, which > cannot be verified, or may have been inserted > in the places from wher you have picked it, by > a Tamasic directed mind,. > > I do not believe Lord Vishnu in any form could > outrage the modesty of a Lady, due to any > reason. > > If You had to highlight this point, then please > use examples of Mandodari, or Dhruvs Mother, > or Prahlads mother, or Laxmans wife, > and so many others in our Puranic literature. > > We need not use a unauthenticated unverificable > negative to highlight a positive. > There are 5-7 reasons given in the Books, > one of them was mentioned by Shri Prashantji > (Jay Vijay).,which reasons seem too proper and > logical for the Incarnation of Lord Vishnu as King > Shri Rama. Guest guest
Shri Panditji, Thanks. As expected I knew you would point out to the sources. I do not wish to comment on Motilalbanarsidas. My association with them is lasting for last 25 years or so. By : " unauthenticated unverificable " I do not mean, about written texts. I mean " who knows the truth actually ? How many of us have Yogic perception to go behind in time and view the incidents as could have actuallty taken place ? " I would have been happier had you taken some other example. But good to see you on the Forum. This completes the family picture. affectionately, Bhaskar. , " panditarjun2004 " <panditarjun2004 wrote: > > dear bhaskarji > > the succinct story mentioned by me is given in a more detailed > comprehensive manner in various puranas published by the most > trustworthy and respected publishers. you would find this story in > its original fashion in the following books which you may kinldy > refer to verify, authenticate and validate: > > 1. Guest guest
dear bhaskarji hindu mythology is depicted more in these puranas and some say that the medieval sages and authors have written these as they remembered from their memories. even vedas were taught only by word of mouth and were made available in writing only in this century. mythology and history are both mixed in hindu culture and hence there is no scientifically tenable verifiable way to prove what is right or wrong except faith and belief. hence we may stop this thread here as none of us can prove or disprove mythological happenings that purportedly happened thousands or lakhs of years ago. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , " Bhaskar " <bhaskar_jyotish wrote: > > > Shri Panditji, > > Thanks.
