Guest guest
Disclaimer notice: <Kumar ji, latching on to your message to put across my thoughts for the forum, but not questioning you directly or requesting you to answer back -- so please do not feel obligated to answer back. Let the younger astrologers respond and teach us Khandahars, what they have learned!!> On another point, while it is probably yet another confusing " khichri/khichdi " , one thought has been presented at times that in India some decades ago there were panchaangs created for localities (Ujjain Panchaang, Varanasi Panchaang, Jaipur, etc etc) and the thought was proposed that maybe these were all 'drik' but different (particularly in lunar longitudes) because they were based on the locality and gave geotopical values! Most Astro-ephemeris (including JPL routines-based -- nearly all software also!) are based on geocentric perspective. Where would the planets be at a given time or epoch when viewed from the center of earth (geocentric). Others maintain that since astrology is best with drik/What you see is what you get ZODIACal perspective (visible- drik), it should take the value of parallax corrected moon (astro- indicator most influenced!) and that difference was reflected in the different local panchaangs. The astronomical truth is that when moon is in an angle, that is when its geotopical (parallax corrected) longitude is most different from the geocentric longitude and the placement in 2 of the 4 kendras is specially different, by nearly a degree and half (makes big difference to dashas and nakshatra subs that KP astrologers use and particularly the new ones who use star-sub-sub/sub (Not recommended or suggested by Krishnamurthy ji who was blessed by Uchchistha Ganapathy and created the KP System in the middle of last century). The parallax-correction of moon is wiped out by certain differences in ayanamshas (for example Raman vs Lahiri) and an illustration given must be in some archives that go back to the 90s! The point of this post is not to irk some of the modern astrologers who keep claiming from time to time that they have all the answers about ayanamsha and everything else that intrigued generations of astrologers, perhaps purer than any of us, present company excepted of course ;-) -- but as Raman ji repeated, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! The catch is: Each of us will have to get off our position of comfort and gather the ingredients and cook the pudding/Kheer and then taste it and figure it! Kheer prepared by other " Chefs " and 'vendors' will just not do! If it were that simple and could be packaged in a processed food analogue (book, booklet, software, article, forum message!) then the confusion about the ayanamsha and all these systems and paddhatis would have been solved and resolved many decades ago! The fact that these basic questions keep coming back and plaguing us tells me one thing! Just living next to or even INSIDE a World-class library and learning a bit here or there while dusting the ancient books is simply not enough to get all the answers! More elbow grease and burning of midnight oil is needed! Take it or leave it!
