hi

i want to know something related to lord ganesha

picture to be kept at home.

i bought one photo (standard framed, sold outside the

temples) of lord ganesha:

1> standing ganesha

2> lion on backside of the ganesha

3> mouse is also present near the feets of ganesha

4> he has 10 hands (5 left and 5 right) holding

different types of weapons.

5> But both of his teeth are intact (he is not shown

to be ek-dant)

6> snakes are surronded on his belly

is this correct picture to be kept in home for

praying. somehow i am getting doubts about

it. i purchased it from a famous & old temple.

i am planning to visit a nearby temple and leave the

picture in that temple. will that be ok ?

i have another picture of lord ganesha + lordess

lakshmi & sarawati. when i compare these two ganesha,

they look different. So I was thinking of taking the

standing ganesha picture & leaving it in some temple.

please advise.

thanks

angel

out side the house mostly on main doors or above main door, this is used used to

ward off evil eye on the house by any one.

Since the subject of Ganesha has been brought up, let me mention that poverty

resides on the back side of Ganesha. Hence, an idol/ photograph must be so

placed that no portion within the house/ office/ shop, especially locations

where cash, cheque books or jewelery items are placed, fall on his back side.

If at all this cannot be avoided due to any reasons, whatsoever, then his back

side must be well covered. As an example place two Ganesha back to back, one

facing each direction.

Best wishes,

Amitabh Shastri
