Are you referring to judgment of longevity - it is not judged from one house or one planet in isolation... It does not signify death but it signify the troubles regarding the significations of the houses that planet signify.Its role in the birth chart should not be highlighted but should also not to be avoided.A planet in mrityubhaga tend to produce a disease in its period or sub periods. Apart from Mrityubhaga planets combust planets as well as retrograded planets should also not be avoided for reading a birth chart for health purposes. Lagn a tells balarishta for initial years in life and may nakhsatra dispositers dasa shud be taken with care .Other wise all rasi has mrityu bhaga in any charts ,so rising degree is important (here lagna) ,in prashna the udaya lagna in mrityu bhaga tells bad luck concerning to the query. for example in amitabh bachan chart sun is in mrityu bhaga ,when he had a terrible accident during a shooting session he was running the period of sun ,and even recently we saw him being taken to hospital that time suns pratyantar was going on ,i think it mainly gives deseases in purticular period ,if u can buy prashna marga(a famous treatise on kerala prashna) translated by sri B V raman in english it deals with degrees and planets in each houses in appendix section ,its application in prashna is differrent . If I may: ?: What was the earliest reference in jyotish texts to Mrityu bhaga? ??: Is it " mrityu/difficulties " for the jatak or to the planet (and its expression as a house lord or karaka) that falls on such a bhaga? Mr. Rao's (and Dr. Charak's?) older writings seemed to indicate that the bhagas were shifting a bit as research progressed.
