If what my friend has told is true, can any one post more info on this if they have this book? I would be much obliged. Tatvam-Asi Get your own web address. Have a HUGE year through Small Business. Guest guest
Skanda Samhita, considered to have been composed by Skanda or Kartikeya (son of Lord Shiva) considered Sauryamana. Hence the year considered Sun's motion through the Zodiac's twelve divisions. Each rashi was named as Mitra, Ravi, Surya, Bhanu, Khaga, Poosha, Hiranyagarbha, Marichi, Aditya, Savita, Arka and Bhaskara. Skanda also gave Krittika (NOT Ashwini) the honour of being the first star and allotted letter A for its first quarter. The heavens had a different position/ shape then. Bhrigu followed his footsteps and furthered the same system. Later, Parashar based on observations during his time and shift of Ayanamsa, changed it to Ashwini. Skanda in his treatise did not follow the Moon's position. He considered Sun as the basic for all calculations and is understood to have favoured Yogini Dasha system with Mangala, Pingala, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha and Samkata as the Mahadasahas. Maybe the book you are refering to is based on the Dasha systems advocated by Skanda. Best wishes, Amitabh Shastri Prashant Kumar G B <gbp_kumar wrote: Dear Tatvam-asi good to see u after a long time on the group If I recall right Parashara in his BPHS said in Kali Yuga UDU or Vimshottari alone will deliver results though he has given many more systems in it any thoughts prashant om_tatsat_om <om_tatsat_om wrote: Learned friends, A friend refered to a book called Poorva Parasharyam. This is a Tamil treties written on palm leaves and published by Saraswathi Mahal Library Tanjore.
