Guest guest
Dear friend, Through this thread and many such similar threads and articles and so on, this topic has been described, discussed, elaborated and such is the vitality of this topic that it keeps coming back again and again :-) These sequels also highlight the poor searchability and organization of list databases. With so many capable math and IT wizards passionately engaged in astrology and jyotish, one would have visualized and 'realized' a means of creating a Jyotish-paedia which is a tad more better quality controlled than wikipaedia, one hopes. I shall offer my few words on this question that you ask. The tenth is karmasthana (often cursorily and literally mistaken for 'work' job avocation etc alone) and ninth is dharmasthana (religion, and more importantly religious values and traditions). Add in that mix the consideration, that the tenth is the strongest kendra (of 1,4,7,10) and 9th the strongest trikona (of 1, 5,9), sets the stage for something good, both being beneficial or benefic houses, functionally. Some recent authors have looked at it from a hindu religious iconic angle and have called these houses attributed to Vishnu and Lakshmi. If you have not been turned off already from pursuing this posting, please read on ... The coming together of lords of these two very strongly benefic houses signals, logically, a union that can be quite helpful to the nativity (this is where the Vishnu and Lakshmi reference comes in to help -- the best of all worlds, worldly and out of this world or spiritual). Yes Raj-yoga aspect is important (union of lords of 9 and 10 in angle or trines creates raj-yoga) but raj-yoga is less about absolute or even relative fame and power (as often misunderstood) but about accomplishments and ability to finish task, ability to bring projects to fruition. The intrinsic nature of the planets that rule 9 and 10 must be taken into account. Note the situaion where sun and saturn unite in a chart with taurus rising, for instance. Saturn and sun are stark enemies and one would not jump and clap hands with glee just because a lord of kendra and trikona united in a horoscope. Or a scorpio rising chart born at the moment of amavasya! Mind you you will need to examine these planets also from other standard perspectives, nakshatra, guna, bala, etc etc. Just because the ninth lord becomes a badhakasthana in a chart does not make the lord of the 9th evil. It serves as a flag (for fixed signs rising) but just a flag and unless other factors taint the lord of ninth further (association with malefics, association with malefic houses, or planets such as kharesha, dispositor of gulika or gulika itself and so on) badhaka house lord itself need not worry you so much as to want to go back to sleep and take the day off! Whether it is this or another standard yoga, one must not get overly excited but carefully analyze (I wish people will stop misspelling that word as 'a-n-a-l-i-z-e'!) the layers within of that planet. There are reasons why all these 'onion' layers had been recommended by otherwise Sattwik Rishi Munis which we tend to forget and overlook often. Expecting that in the situation where the two come together, even otherwise in benefic situation, just having the two planets in a dasha-bhukti in life alone would not represent the signature of success. A strong and happy planet in the stars of these yoga-kari planets, on the other hand would go a long way. Also, please be on the lookout for the awareness that a good and strong union of the L9 and L10 by itself, dasha notwithstanding give an inner strength and vitality that gives the nativity a headstart. They may not always be able or willing to utilize it, to the full extent possible but that is where the next level of the game of life and awareness begin! People with strong benefic yogas will feel less and less that they are sorry puppets, even when adversities roll along in the various realms of life: physical, mental, spiritual and cybernautical (new dimension!)
