MEDITATION Posted by: " raneetha soodeyal " raneethas raneethas Sun Mar 18, 2007 4:39 am (PST) I have read a number of your response and they are interesting especially were it helped the people My name is Raneetha Devi Maharaj Born in South Africa Age is 48 Born on 08/04/1958 not sure of time though I am married and have two children who are educated and working, the daughter as a dentist and son as an electronic engineer. I work in another province and my husband in another. Please can you tell me which mantra I should chan t so that it can help me to cope with the hectic life I lead with respect to my work and getting a job back in my province where my husband is KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. I hope you do respond Thanks Raneetha Dear Raneetha: I'm not sure if you were writing to me, but in case you were I'll respond with some thoughts about meditation. My highest recomendation for meditation is a technique called Transcendental Mediation. Ever hear of it. There's probably a TM center in or near your home town. In the TM technique you'll receive a mantra so it's a japa meditation that teaches how to expand hte mind. Any more questions go to TM.org Mark Kincaid I also have a meditation and consciousness you might be interested in. Guest guest
Dear Raneetha, I am really not aware your depth of knowledge in Yoga. Meditation is just one part of it. If done incorrectly, your experiences may be quite frustrating! The net is full of pseudo literature about Yoga and associated topics. Though I do not wish to injure anyone's feelings or cause heartburns, but the bare truth is, that, anyone who can spell Yoga thinks he is a Yogi and has the capability to preach all aspects of Yoga. I wish it was as easy as that; but then every other person on the street would have been a Yogi/ sage/ sufi/ saint or a rishi...even Swami Ramdev has, on occasions, probably unintentionally, made some incorrect statements. The Yoga we commonly know today is just the tip of an iceberg as much as jyotish. I would strongly recommend reading " Yoga Darshan " by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. Not a very expensive book (under Rs 200/=), it contains beautiful explanations of Patanjali Yoga theory and practices in the most layman terms. I am sure you would enjoy the " swadhayaya " ... Best wishes and best of luck, Amitabh Shastri raneetha soodeyal <raneethas wrote: Great to receive a response from you. I am very interested in TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITAITON.
