My name is Diane, and I live in Sarasota, Florida. I am a beginner to astrology and find that I can learn a lot just by reading the postings of more experienced astrologers in these on-line groups. I did not know about Jyotish astrology, so I'm looking forward to learning more about that! Best regards,Diane

You'll find lots of variety here--some ideas to ponder as well as posts to bypass if they don't come close to your interests. Since you are studying astronomy (congrats to that!), I hope you'll read the article, 'What is a Sign of the Zodiac?' on this site: http://users.snowcrest.net/sunrise/LostZodiac.htm The link is near the bottom of the page. There is also an article on the original star measurements in Mesopotamia as well as articles that suggest beginning interpretations for the sidereal signs. If you have time, scan some of the past postings on this list. The easiest way to do this is to click on 'Messages,' then 'Expand messages.' They all come up at once that way, page by page. Welcome aboard! Therese

Guest guest
Sue... Glad you have joined the group... You will find that many variations of sidereal astrology exist on this group... In the files section you will find sidereal.zip.... It contains information on " western " sidereal astrology. The authors contained within calculate charts utilizing the Fagan?Bradley Ayanamsa. There are many techniques utilized here and I suggest that you understand whenever possible what " school of thought " is being discussed. I look forward to knowing you better and learning from your travels. Since you are into astronomy... what areas of astronomy interest you? Do you follow the psychological affects on earth from Sun Spot activitities? Funny thing about astronomers(most anyway); the idea of physics, philosophy and psychology together seems foreign.... Have you read " The Artful Universe " or " Pi in the Sky " by John Barrow? He is a Professor of Astronomy... Jivio Juan
