Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Thank you very much for your kind welcome. I was especially taken by your recent post about your views regarding " reading requests " on serious jyotish forums, as I browsed the forum. Readings, to me, represent a very serious pursuit which must be conducted between jyotishi and jatak/jaatika and not publicly carried out as seems to have become the norm. I am sure some practitioners and doyens may disagree. I have always, on many diverse forums/fora, kind of faught this tendency to mete out *readings* by otherwise well-intentioned jyotishis and astrologers to all and sundry, just for the asking! And then many of these providers get upset and disillusioned and begin to see the futility of this kind of public reading marathon? If one is a serious jyotishi, why enter into something that serious like a jyotish reading that is supposed to be at least sincere if not sacred? And then complain? Why?? Your wisdom and experience shows clearly because you have curbed that kind of quickie-jyotish, if I may use that term. The ONLY way to get a proper reading is to consult an astrologer properly and not on a whim, as many internet reading request seem to be. I speak from an experience of dealing with this kind of thing since 1980. RR (Call me lazy but I will sign off my messages as RR and not Rohiniranjan. I hope that is okay?) jyotish-vidya , " Wendy Vasicek " <jyotishvidya wrote: > > Dear Rohiniranjan, > > Welcome... Guest guest
Dear RR, ///The ONLY way to get a proper reading is to consult an astrologer properly and not on a whim, as many internet reading request seem to be./// I agree wholeheartedly! A jyotish reading is a very personal thing which requires a one-on-one contact between the jyotishi and the querant. Something happens in that personal contact, that cannot happen over the internet. There's a subtle, yet profound, exchange of energy that sharpens the intuition of the jyotishi, supporting his knowledge and his ability to 'SEE' more clearly... For the sake of those sincerely wanting to learn by studying their own chart, I will point out certain features (of their chart) when moved to do so...otherwise I shy clear from making predictions. It's my hope that members will honour the fact that this is primarily a 'discussion' group for astrologers and students of astrology... It's my belief that the many silent members lurking in the background can learn much from such discussions. Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Absolutely in agreement with you. Personally, I have found it most useful to test when I could, claims when those were made by individuals, and believe me, this is not a new trend ... I have been following this phenomenon since late 60s through articles and claims made on Astrological Magazine (sadly, no more in publication...) and umpteen other articles elsewhere and pocketbooks published by many all over the globe. I wrote a posting recently on some site about the sweet and silly aspect of contemporary jyotish but I will not post it here and bore you all. It was about the crowds of followers err... umm... simply following what new material or rule was posted and no one bothered to test it against a few charts, a test-bed that each astrologer worth his or her salt MUST possess!
