Guest guest
Friends, This is the best Digest that I have read, ever since I joined the group. I have been laughing all through - all that hype about my age, the "ji" with one's name, the new information, and the uploads in the file section. I wish to take them up one by one. Just to share a laugh with everyone.. How does age matter? Me old? Possibly not, but not so young either. The fact is that we are contributing to the expansion of knowledge and whosoever does that, irerespective of what his age be, is regarded. Knowledge is to be shared, and the more we share it, the more knowledge we get, for there has to be someone who will question -- WHY? It is this why, which gets you going to your books again, and the more you read, the more you understand.. This the reason there are so many books, written by various scholars, on each of our Hindu Religious Texts. I read, heard, learnt something from my elders, teachers, friends, everyone. I am trying to pass it on. If someone likes it, take it. If not, leave it. It's there for you to do as you please.. The 'ji" with the name. It has been a tradition of Indian society, irrespective of the region to which you belong, to address a stranger as reverred. Hence the "......ji". Anyone contributing to the enhancement of your knowledge and wisdom, is a teacher, and we have been taught to rever our teachers. Hence the "..ji". Kaushikji, you have been contributing to the enhancement of our knowledge, and this is something that even Bhaskarji has acknowledged, indirectly, when he asked you for the Hindi translation of the Balmiki Ramayan shlokas. He was not aware of it, and from your posting, got to learn something. That way, for this one piece of knowledge, you beome our teacher. So let it be at that and make no fuss over it. If we get to know each other, on a very personal basis, we may then decide to drop this suffix and get down to addressing on first name basis. I just glanced through the Why's posting on Hindu traditions. I too am working on this, and will add to what you have written gradually. Every action has many meanings and interpretations. We can put then here and let the readers decide which they will like to accept as being more rational than the others. Our Rishis and Munis did have a reason for laying down these rules and guidelines. In today's scientific world, where everything has to be explained by logic, we have done away with many of these. Hope someone takes the initiative and re-start these in their homes. Hopefully, the society will become a better place. Before we try to change someone, it is of paramount importance that we start changing ourselves. We have to first control our anger, then and only then, can we ask someone else to control his. We get angry, and ask the othert to keep cool! No way! I won't do it. The Asthma cure is in the file section. Please go it and download it. I am not repeating it here. If you need any clarification, you can contact me directly, I will be only too glad to help. Regards. Naresh Mintri Add more friends to your messenger and enjoy! Invite them now.
