Hare ramakrishna,

dear sun_el.

Its not bachelor brahmin or married brahmin ,it says a single brahmin (one brahmin) is bad when u starts a journey in the begining time or starting time of journey ,they come across its bad ,u will not achieve the results and same sastra says siting of prostitutes in good .

Even i find people has this belief when the traders if their the first sale is to if a prostitute or some one with a good hand ( i dont know the translation ) says to bring good results .

all this may happened because brahmins used to liv by dakshina which totaly depends on the mercy of people .

I still feel that the term "Single Brahmin" refers to an unmarried Bachelor Brahmin" and not a married Brahmin approaching without his spouse by his side! Hare rama krishna,

dear Kumarji,

Yes its is single brahmin -means one brahmin ,pls refer any of the texts deals with shakuna ,prashna maarga, prasna reethi or prashna anushtana padhathi (main kerala classics deals with prashna) it clearely says so ,evn they used other termes for brahmachari, sanyasi ,and those who begging ,prasna reethi kara is non brahmin and he refers thampran (yembran-a word used by lower casts to adress brahmins in cast driven society). And also in explanations by punnaserri neelakanta sharma and all ,it says vipra dwayam is not bad (means 2 brahmin) so its understood beyond doubt that ottabrahmin is a brahmin who comes singly on your way during the begining of an important journey .But this is not applicable to persons who lives near brahmin settlements as there will be always brahmins around.

And Your reference to chattampi swamikal as guru of sri narayan guru is totaly wrong as they both were travelling together in serch knowledge and their search for truth ,god and knowledge and chattampi swamikal is 2 years elder to sri narayana guru and both tried to be sisysa of sri thycattu ayyavu a yoga expert (who could flaot in air (akaash gamana vidya) and done performance in frnt of resident collector --a british man and he was also working as govt servant with central secretariate in trivandrum )and who possess raasa vidya (ancient chemical preparations which deals with making of gold and medicines related to longitivity mainly devlped by saint agastya and followers to repair any damage caused by wrong yoga practises or wrong life style) and some time together with his residence ,do u think a guru and sisya will do like that ,offcourse sri narayan guru always address him as guru, but not in practical sense. Also please dont refer any sanyasi by his cast ,offcourse people has to born in some cast in india .

Chattambi Swamigal was a human with Siddhi and could do wonders. Once he told one landlord that he would be bringing about 100 guests for lunch (Sadya) and to make arrangements. On the appointed day, over 100 dogs accompanied Chattambi swamigal, came and sat in front of banana leaves ready for partaking in the feast. Food was given as in a regular marriage feast, the dogs ate as disciplined soldiers and no sooner the feast was over, Swamigal asked the dogs to walk out and released the spell on them outside the gate. The dogs became normal and went away barking!! Several similar cases are on record and Chattambi swamigal was of late 20th.Century. I have certainly read somewhere that Naanuguru had to learn a lot of Hindu philosophy..etc. from Chattambi swamigal and was accepted as his Guru, though they were contemporaries. I know from the families in Trivandrum the

miracle that was Chattambi, though he moved like an ordinary man as any others. Vidyadhiraja as he was known. He left this world in Samadhi posture, a Siddhi only Yogi-s can do- in Padmasana posture as Maharshi Yogananda did in New York in 1959. But Narayana Guru had to lie down to die and it is said his disciples took the dead man and brought him to sitting posture before rigor mortis set in, and made an opening on the fontanelles to show that life escaped through the vertex, as maharshi-s perform their last act!! This was a known talk in Varkala in 1940-s. The bachelor Brahmin singly coming across as a bad omen is also very vigorously observed in Tamilnadu. If one starts for some important errand, care is taken to send someone in advance to see no scuh bad omen comes on the way, in the immediate vicinity.

Similar is the Cat crossing the path and people return home, have a galss of water or tea, rest and then only leave again. sunil nair <astro_tellerkerala wrote: Hare rama krishna, dear Kumarji, Yes its is single brahmin -means one brahmin ,pls refer any of the texts deals with shakuna ,prashna

Hare ramakrishna.

dear kumarji .

What i hav said is from authorised texts on astrology and books on omens ,we cannot go by what people practise .There is lot of saying like moolam piranthal kottai kettum (Those who born in moolam star will be living in fort ) in that case world will be full of forts. So there is lot of differrence between what pople will observe and what is in actual as its natuaral to hav erosions over a period of time .

Then again regrding sidhis dont confuse yourself with unilateral statements and pls try to absorb more ,can u tell me what takur sri ramakrishna paramahamsa done as sidhis to general public ,or he died in which way or many saints of yore ,yes those who practise yoga vidya is strong enough to release their prana tru skull -brahma randra bhedana.

I hav one frnds father who died this way --he was a poor local tailor but very adept in yoga practises and follower of tamil sidhas and after his death when he was taken out for ceremonial bath only every body came to know that his skull is cracked other wise he was in lying position.

chattampi swamikal asked kumbalathu sanku paillai ( he was staying with him and good sisya of swamikal) to help him in yoga =padmasan posture .and he died that way .And sree narayana gurus body was mutilated on skull is wrong news --u can check travancore palace archives as he was sufferring from some urinry related diseases and maharaja of travencore himself sent palace doctor sri -krishnan thampy to look after guru and report daily to palace what is happening .And lot of other ayurvedic and sidha practising physicians were around ,so u pls think whether its possible ,only to make sure that he died like a maharishi by opening a hole in his skull by force or by some instruments .

This all allegations will malign the spiritual aspects of our kerla only as narayana guru was instrumental in many reforms and also stopping majority of hindus from conversions to christianity ,even vatican offerred him saint hood.Even he bring back many from folds of conversions by re converting and if ask any sri lankans who is known and well read, he converted one khader a srilankan muslim rich business man to hinduism and later years he was known as khader kanthaswami ,while his trip to srilanka .U know sri mannath padmanbhan the leader of nairs of kerala accepted as sri narayana guru as guru and on his instruction he deleted his famour nair title from his name -pillai and he started writing his name as mannath padmanabhan only .Both r big gurus and only differrence i find is that most of sri narayanas sisyas was nampoothiri or nairs and of swamikal was ezhavas and other casts ,except sri kumbalath sankara pillai can u tell me one famous nair zamindar assossiated with swamikal ,even the invitation from many big families he rejected and he was a frequnter with only MKK nairs family and the then chairman of jamshedpur steel city and F.A.C.T--even invitation from arumana amma veedu (most famous nair family)--wifes family of tranvancore raja he rejected .One was a karma yogi -a very difficult part of spirituality and other was bhakti yogi .

So these gurus were beyond our perceptions and as they born in kerala and being tiny state in remotest part of india their contributions most of indian are unheard.

Can u tell me who was guru of chattampi swamikal who disclosed the secret of kechari mudra to swami vivekanda .And in that sense can we call him he is guru of swami vivekananda .Actauly both were travelling in a boat and what discussions happened no body knews and swami vivekanda told later after journey that he got the secret from chattampi swamikal which he was searching and he could not get from many big yogis, may be it was a mutual exchange also .

All the best to u

Food was given as in a regular marriage feast, the dogs ate as disciplined soldiers and no sooner the feast was over, Swamigal asked the dogs to walk out and released the spell on them outside the gate. The dogs became normal and went away barking!!> > Several similar cases are on record and Chattambi swamigal was of late 20th.Century. I have certainly read somewhere that Naanuguru had to learn a lot of Hindu philosophy..etc. from Chattambi swamigal and was accepted as his Guru, though they were contemporaries. I know from the families in Trivandrum the miracle that was Chattambi, though he moved like an ordinary man as any others. This was a known talk in Varkala in 1940-s.> > The bachelor Brahmin singly coming across as a bad omen is also very vigorously observed in Tamilnadu.
