Om shivaya namah

Dear chetan,

It happens - even I had witnessed this.

As you know there are 27 nakshatras, 4 padas in each nakshatras. Each bhava has

got 9 padas.

When a planet is at the last pada of any nakshatras, some astrologers put the

planet at the next immediate nakshatra.

Dear srini,

Upto my knowledge rahu, ketu, sun and moon don't have retro motion.

Re: Correct position

Chetan

Recently I had the same issue (My DOB is close to what you have

posted). On top of that I am running a Rahu Maha Dasa :-). I emailed

the question to Mr. P.V.R. Narasimha Rao, the author of Jagannatha

Hora software. He was kind enough to give me a reply with a good

explanation. There are two ways to calculate Rahu position: 1. True

Nodes and 2. Mean Nodes. According to Mr. Rao, Mean Nodes calculation

always gives a retrograde Rahu, which is what 'shastras' say. True

Nodes calculation can give sometimes a forward moving Rahu. In

Jagannatha Hora, the default is 'Mean Nodes'. You can change it by

going to Preferences/Related to Calculation/ Planet Calculation menu.

I tried searching the web and found a lot of discussion on the two

methods of calculation and no single opinion. If the experts on this

group can give their opinons that would be great.
