Dear Friends,

Thank You for keeping patience. I hope its well rewarded by this Chapter I have uploaded. This may be little tough for the beginners, but this is how things should be shaping up in future for You, so just gave you some taste.

I request the Senior Members to please point out the discrepancies in my Lessons, so that they can be corrected and dealt with. Since this is my first experience, I may not realise unless one points out.

Thanks once again for the co-operation of those who have stayed on and are bearing with some delay on my part.

Sincerely Yours,

Bhaskar.

Pranaam Bhaskarji,

Thank you for this chapter! It is a fascinating lecture, very useful

in understanding the basic construction of a natal chart.

Respectfully,

olusanya

Thanks Bhaskar ji,I always used to ponder that how an ascendant is found. The last chapter provides logic of ascendant which is relative to the position of Sun. Also, the platform you made in your last chapter made it more interesting from conceptual point of view.ThanksAshishBhaskar <bhaskar_jyotish Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 11:08:37 PM CHAPTER 6 UPLOADED

Dear Ashishji,

Thanks for the positive feedback. And good to know

that your knowledge has been bettered by being present

here. The actual calculation of Ascendant is based on many

factors which we will look into, when we take up the

mathematics part. What I mentioned just gives a good

guess without aid of other instruments.Whatever point

rises on the East makes the ascendant, is the rule.

The Sun rises always in the East early morning, which

is a good pointer for us to start with.

One should just know by heart, every month which

Sign is The Sun in.Thus when a child is born at say

Sunrise or little after Sunrise time, then naturally his

ascendant would be the same Sign in which Sun is

that month, and therefore the Sun sign would become

the ascendant.

Now when The Sun moves further up by few hours

when it is noon, then all we have to do is mental

jugglery of the Signs,to arrive at the most optimum

and near-correct ascendant of the native coming to

us for help. When we are not sure as per the time

given, then You have at the most maximum 3 choices-

1) What You think the ascendant could be,but not sure.

2) One sign before the sign you think may be right.

3) One sign after the sign You think may be right.

That makes around 5-6 hours time gap, which can further

be narrowed by smart thinking and bring down the

choices to two signs. If You know the physical attributes

and characteristics and behaviour patterns attached

to natives born in the 12 Signs, then it would be a

small babys job to pick the right ascendant from the

2 choices You have.

But all the above is only necessary when one does

not have the help of Ephemerises or Computer, ready

at hand.,or else when one wants to sharpen his

mental skills in astrology, then one can practise

the above.

regards,

Bhaskar.

If I've understood it correctly: 1. The time of birth gives the position of the Sun 2. The house in which the sign would be placed is determined by the date and month of birth. 3. And finally the ascendant is determined. It is interesting that we go clockwise to determine the position of the sun. And anticlockwise for the ascendant.
