Guest guest
Dear Lovers of Shastras, Garuda Purana is normally read when some one passes in the family. Theres a very wrong Bhram (Misunderstanding) in the minds of people, about it not being kept in the house. I brought this for some Planet appeasement in my house, against strict opposition of My own better half, but then read the passages to her, and explained the good, one gets due to regular reading of theis Great Purana. Of course when someone passes away, then the Pundit reading this Purana in the right manner as prescribed, will do good that time, and not our reading. But in regular course if one reads the Garuda Purana once in at least 3 months, then he will fear from committing any sins. You need not think much about keeping one at home. Go to the nearest Gita press,Book shop and buy one. It is good.and believe me, I talk after having read the same,a couple of times and not from hearsay. Same with MahaBharat, people say one should not keep this epic at home, as it will create fights in the family members, but they carelessly and conveniently forget from where the Bhagavad Gita comes. You cannot then keep Ramayana also at home for similiar reasons if we listen to their arguments. If our children do not read about the great characters of MahaBharata and the epic then what have they learnt in India ? See the world is big, people are many, opinions are many. One should hear his consciences voice and let that decesion stay.
