Retrograte stauts of Planets

Dear Gurujans

First of all I would like to say that I am novice to both astrology

and astronomy. In the recent months, I have started to try to

understand this great science of astrology and astronomy. I

understand that both are inter-related to each other. Correct me if

I am wrong.

As far, I understand that certain planets retrogate in their motion

for a period of time, as detailed in the Vedic astrology. That

means that the planets do have a regular motion, stationary days and

retrogade motion.

Is there any reference about this retrograte motion of planets in

the astronomy? or am I missing some thing here, conceptually.

Please throw some light on this.

Regards

Sridhar

Dear Sridharji,

Its good that You are trying to understand astronomy too, because

learning basic astronomy would always be extra gear with You and

helpful

while walking uphill in the study of astrology.

In the sky the planets never retrograde actually.

It is only as an observer from the Earth, it looks like the planet is

stationary or retrograde.

All above in the sky is moving.

When we used to visit out of town with our mother in school holidays,

remember we used to sit as children near the window seat in the

train ?

Whenever on the other track if a train was moving faster in the same

direction in which our train was moving, then for a few moments we

felt that our train was going back, which in fact was not, but just

illusionary.

In the same way, planets do not retrograde,

but appear to us as observers on another plane ie.the earth.

regards,

Bhaskar.

Dear Bhaskarji

Thanks for the clarity and a good simple analogy you gave. I am

clear now on this concept.

Thanks once again.
