Guest guest
DHANTERAS The thirteenth day of the Dark Fortnight before Diwali is known as Dhanteras. On this day a new utensil is brought for the house. On this day the children go out to buy crackers, candles, earthen diyas. The day Prior to Diwali is known as Choti Diwali. On that day Hanuman Pavanputra, the greatest immortal devotee of Lord Rama, came flying to Ayodhya to inform the family and the kingdom that Rama, Sita and Lakshman were coming back the following day so that arrangements to welcome them could be made. Today all markets are full and buzzing with activity. Mithai is displayed and ready at homes to be distributed, even many business houses distribute same to their associates, The business community begins its new year from this day, though the accounting Financial Year dates laid down by the Government may be different to suit a common code. One word of caution. Do Your buying today as per your budget and standards, and not as per neighbours. 21 or 51 diyas are brought to light the flame, just to keep the old tradition alive, and mantain a continuity from time immemorial to this day. In countries where diyas are not available one should do with candles. Ultimtely faith, love and shraddha bhakti towards God and festival is what that matters. Lighting lamps is auspicious, cleaning homes is auspicious, greeting everyone is auspicious, wearing new clothes is auspicious, because Goddess Lakshmi can enter any time your house during these days and if you are a wortthwhile candidate then receive her blesings till next year. So why not get ready ? To receive the Mother Goddess of Wealth ? Who knows it may be your number this year to get her great desired blessings.
