Andy told me:

========================

*****Another psychiatric definition

of addiction is the

" compulsive physiological and/or

psychological need for either a

substance or an activity...The

condition of being habitually or

compulsively occupied with or or

involved in something. " So something

as innocuous as reading the Gita ~

or posting online ;-)) ~ can, given

the right circumstances, be defined

clinically as an " addiction. "

When the engagement (be it with a

substance, book, or activity) so

distorts a life as to knock it out

of balance (such that basic

responsibilities to one's job,

family, health) are ignored, we're

looking at an " addictive state of

mind " at the least, perhaps a formal

" addiction " at the worst.

============================

That happens with me most of

the times with most activities.

It seems, as if naturally, I know no

moderation. Pretty much everything I

do, I tend to get totally absorbed in

it. I have had sex 6-8 times a day and

kept thinking about it rest of the

times. I also have had no sex for weeks

and not thought much about it. I have

worked 70+ hours with full focus and

also not worked for weeks. And, so on. . .

Oorganization, scheduling,

discipline, structure, lanning and

balance has been greatly missing in my

life. Once I start doing something; I

tend to get very absorbed, enjoy it a

lot and do it a lot.

Planning and discipline is one thing I

want to learn. . . and, whenever I do it,

I do enjoy discipline and focus too.

But, my 'self discipline' and planning

and scheduling so far, has never went

beyond 2 weeks.

Whenever I did it,

it started looking very easy and then

I have drifted again and repeated the

same pattern. . . that is, I did what I enjoyed

most. And, I, like many people I know,

and, like many kids I know,

have tended to enjoy and drift tworads

idle and 'easy' TV watching, Internet,

chatting, walking, sex, porn, sports,

internet shopping far more than structured work.

Did you have same symtoms in you?

Did you overcome them?

How did you overcome them?

This is what I wrote to me today:

=================

Habit that I want to build:

Plan the day with compassion,

kindness, understanding, intelligence,

purpose and focus.

Follow the plan with devotion,

intelligence, discipline and focus.

Whatever I do, do it with Full Attention

and complete focus.

====================

Do you plan you day. . . everdyay?

Do you follow your plan. . . everyday?

Do you like it?

This is the habit I want to build, now.

Do you have an idea?

Regards,

ac
