Guest guest
Self is everywhere, shining forth from all beings, vaster than the vast, subtler than the most subtle, unreachable, yet nearer than breath, than heartbeat. Eye cannot see it, ear cannot hear it nor tongue utter it; only in deep absorption can the mind, grown pure and silent, merge with the formless truth. As soon as you find it, you are free; you have found yourself; you have solved the great riddle; your heart is forever at peace. Whole, you enter the Whole. Your personal self returns to its radiant, intimate, deathless source. - Mundaka Upanishad
Guest guest
Dear Joe, Am I self realized. I am not sure what this ask. In the sense that Nisargadatte speaks of no I am ......not. Do I have moments of being aware of something not " me " yes. Yet these moments keep me meditating on a regular basis. I don't think words from a book from a master will get me there they only serve to help the mind relax a little. Trust a little enough to practice. It is an experience beyond words. Writing to you about it in my words helps me stay more focused on " I am " Thanks for writing about YOUR experience of it sounds closer to it then endless quotes for a response. After many years of practice and even time with a master it seems to be a very personal and unique experience. For all you on the list that want to run to your books and find what you think is the right quote please don't not for me at least. I have the book I can read it myself. They are empty words on a screen. Your insights your experience is always welcome like a cool breeze in the heat of summer. The masters words loose something for me when used to proof something or explain some point. I like to just hear them for no reason at all like smelling a rose. I also find comfort in quiet open speaking of mine and your experience of the masters concepts and words. Touching the divine thru the touching and meeting each other and our common longing for the I am. Am I self realized don't know am I yes something sits here writing to you. The line between ego and self realization is not able to be defined. Thanks again Joe for you sharing of self.................. [and don't say that this is illusion because it has nothing to do with it, which is what gets people caught up in a snag to distract] When going into " I AM " long enough you *realize* just that --- YOU are... That YOU that appears as Joe, Anna, Sam et.al is YOU. But the aspect of you that refuses to accept that creates the splitting that believes you have no choice. In many ways that's very true...*you* haven't got any choice but YOU do. This isn't something that can be explained well with words because all the words in the world won't help - when it falls upon you like the morning dew then " YOU " know. It's really all about control though now isn't it? The part of humans that has individuated seeks control to choose. The YOU already is whatever IT chooses. IT creates, destroys and cares not whether it's illusion. Creation is what IT does - creating out of nothing and going back into nothing. Someone here said that when you're self realized you are Self. Do you know what that means to be Self? It involves accepting the aspect of NOthing and CREATion in all it's aspects. And....this also involves choice. People fear choice because if they get into it they'll lose the dualistic self nature which is a sabatoge. Just the same as people who constantly seek enlightenment which is a sabatoge because if they stopped it and sat in acceptance then the seeking game would be over. Seeking in my opinion is all about the false ego state trying to gain control by by-passing the SELF. In the moment, in Self you are already the SELF -- nothing to seek. But...... no one is happy with it are they? Always seeking something better....something different....some greater concoction and idea. I've been told a few times that this is my last life. I laugh at that. How can it be my last life when new babies are being born? This last life business is yet again the individuated ego nature.
