The picture of Sri Popeye smoking his spinach bong (thanks to Anna's

link to the Popeye Dharma site) has been installed on my altar right

next to my other favorite Spiritual Hall of Famers, Ramana,

Nisargadatta, Ramakrishna and Jesus.

And fuzzie-wuzzie your brilliant post has kicked off my day in a most

wonderful way.

Your " dharma combat " dialogues with Toombaru and Dan are really

excellent and non-thought provoking.

If you guys keep this up, I will not get very much telemarketing done

for yet another week.

Oh well, " gainful employment " is just another conceptual construct to

be transcended anyway.

Who says I can't just sit in my rocking chair with my spinach beside

me and just read and post all day?

I mean, besides my wife?

The Totality of Functioning? The Big C ? The Absolute?

(Nah, I don't think they care.)

For real, Mr. E.:

Nah, I aint doing no dharma combat or anything. There's nothing to

combat. People are in denial. You see it everywhere. How do you think

Bush got re-elected? See what I'm saying? And, these neo-Advaitins are

the same way. They are in denial of their own existence. The absurdity

of this kind of logic cannot be stressed enough. By their very denial,

they implicitly affirm their existence. But, Dr. E., it doesn't do any

good to combat them. Realization is something that has to happen on

its own. No one can make it happen. It happens by Grace, if it happens

at all.

So, I say, let it be. I know. That sounds trite and hackneyed. But, it

is the Way. Just be. You can't help it, anyhow.

Yours truly,

fuzzie

P.S. Keep them cards and letters coming, man. I need the laughter.

It's good for the immune system. Thanks.

Yes! And by looking outside ourselves for support we give our power

away. I am not talking about asking someone for the way to a certain

address in a city or for asking someone else for help. I am talking

about the sense of who we are in the depths of our being. Why do I

need religion to give me meaning? Only when God is seen as something

outside oneself is grace needed. Religion has a vital function to

play, but only as a crutch until we are mature enough to be on our own.

I would say " grace " is the whole process by which an individual Sees

a truth that is not only 'his/her' Truth.

How do you derive that interpretation?

Grace is Being, itself.

Only Grace can bring about realization. Until you understand, you will

merely be lost in somebody else's dream.

Yours,

fuzzie

Oh....I know fuzzie.........someone told you once...or twice....that there was

something

called " Grace " ....some strange something or other that is kinda like a

belevolent force...or

something that will come in the last minute and save you from something of

other.

You know ...save your ass.......give you something called " enlightenment " ..or

bliss......or

some other good something or other.

Grace always brings good things ya know.....It would never want to hurt

you......but it

always seems to drag its feet......and why do you think it likes us rich folks a

lot better

then poor folks?

Well........I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you

this..............but.......There is no such

thing an grace.......

Cause ya know why?.......

There is not entity upon whom it could be bestowed......

So.....if I were you (which I am by the way)...I wouldn't hold our

breath.....waiten around for

Grace to get up off its lazy ass........
