The only role of scientific psychology is to study behavior, any analysis of the subjective reasons for behavior is artistic creativity, which sometimes is useful to the patient, and sometimes does harm. Philosophical psychology as presented by your Guru is nothing but a new religion masquerading as science. > > G: I have met counselors who inject ideas into the clients head. One in particular told the client he had been sexually molested which was the supposed reason for the majority of his problems. He never went back since he had absolutely no knowledge or memory to support that statement. It was a ridiculous statement made on the first visit and with nothing to back it up. Yes there are quacks in every profession and field. Actually the only reason for scientific psychology is to study behavior in order that <and this is the key part> they are able to develop new and improved coping skills that produce less of their victim/pain/suffering and more freedom and joy. However, if humanity doesn't learn from the past in order to make changes then what course of action do you propose they take? Or do you care? - if you'll have a planet to live on in future? What future they ask? It doesn't exist? And there right - it won't at this rate. Or do you just hope you'll be dead before the glacial ice melts? Or do you just hope no one bombs your city? Or are you just one of those who pick up the gun and shoot to resolve your problems? Or are you one of the many who doesn't care about finding better alternatives to live? If so I totally understand - it echoes the mentality of many - if not do you foresee change as a necessary part of humanities function as a species and planet? Actions are producing consequences on this planet whether anyone wants to admit or believe it or not. If humanity continues down the same road they simply won't have a planet to worry. As for your earlier statements about being without emotion I'm simply not buying it but if it makes you feel good to say it then go for it. Your words are far too entwined with emotion to make me believe that, but you may be able to sell that to others who do. P.S. I also don't want to buy swamp land in florida if your wondering. ~*~ G.
