Guest guest
The ego will try to make you think about events in time. When the ego does so, when it wants you to think about the future for example, then you tell it: another time. /AL

And I will tell you why. Events in the future are all misery! Why? Because when you are waiting for some pleasurable event in the future, then the way to that point is only waiting, which is misery. And when you are waiting for some unwanted event in the future, then the way to that point is also waiting, which is misery. So _every_ future event you think about is misery: it is the ego taking your attention away from peace, draining you of valuable energy and awareness. /AL

And I will tell you why. No, you won't. What you did (see below), was speculate, theorize, and bullshit. You need to get yourself to the Science department and read up on Physics - because " time " (your current favorite play-toy) is physical and has nothing whatsoever to do with your other favorite play-toy, " ego " . But, trying to 'splain myself to you, would be like trying to make you see that mirage over there, as a tall glass of cool, clear, water. (Oh, wait, you already DO see it that way.) >Events in the future are > all misery! Why? I will spell it out for you: happy waiting! > > /AL Maybe I should try to explain it a bit better, about how the ego creates a future. Let's assume that I need to buy new trousers. With that the future-generating machine in me has already started: I need to plan when and where to go shopping. So here the first waiting item is stored in my mind. Then when I actually go to the shop, then I am thinking about what kind of trousers I should buy, another waiting item is stored and processed in my mind. If there were only a few such waiting items stored in my mind, then it would not be a big problem. But there are hundreds of such waiting items stored in my mind; everything from thinking about the next day at the office to my next vacation. And every personal relationship is also a (although not so obvious) kind of waiting item. Every material possession too. In this way I am always waiting for the next moment: the next minute, hour, day, weekend, week, month, or as Eckhart Tolle says: waiting for the day when I will have " made it " . This whole structure of waiting items form a rigid egoic pattern, and we can even say that this pattern _is_ the ego. As an example, look at people walking in a city. When they are alone they often have the look of " deep thinking " (about what has happened to then and what will happen to them in the future). And when they are not alone, they are _talking_ about what has happened and what will happen. Always " going somewhere " , always on the move to, or thinking about, or talking about the _next_ moment. A constant state of waiting, where thoughts about the next moment takes precedence over awareness in _this_ moment. /AL > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >Events in the future are > > > all misery!
