Guest guest
" But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. " -- Matthew 5:39 What the heck is Jesus talking about here? Watchin the news today we can read about a suicide bomber killing over 100 people in Iraq. How insane isn't that? On an eartly level we can see that such act is outrageous. On a divine level we don't know. But on a rational sane level such act is clearly not good. So what did Jesus mean by turning the other cheek? Should we let people rob us, trample on us? Clearly not. We must come to a divine realization, a realization of that we and the enemy are one and the same. This is perfectly illustrated in the third Matrix movie where Neo, after having fought agent Smith in a titanic battle, says: " You were right Smith, it was inevitably " , and with that Neo surrenders and he lets agent Smith do what he wants to. Agent Smith turns Neo into himself, thereby obliterating Neo. After that agent Smith himself (and all his clones) becomes obliterated in a flash of light. Neo turned agent Smith the other cheek, and they were both obliterated, or integrated if you will, by _embracing_ the enemy by turning the other cheek, because he then knew he and agent Smith was the same entity; thus Neo transcended himself. /AL

It offers vague fragmented sentences and people develope entire sects around it with fear tactics and guilt trips damning those non-conformist/non-believers to hell or rewarding them to heaven. Not to mention that the bible is so full of contradictory statements (one example is the topic of faith vs grace) that the believers little heads are spinning and their caught up in the obedience factor thereby relinquishing their ability to reason and see these contradictions. These sort of ideas (scriptures) offer little to nothing in the way of providing actual useable coping skills whereby allowing fear and obedience to be replaced with common sense using cause and effect and choice. I don't usually read your posts AL but I like your analogy of the Neo/Smith Matrix 3 movie. I'll have to watch that now. ~*~ G.
