Guest guest
When you awake in the middle of the night and your mind is empty, and all is dark, and all is silent, and the silence and the darkness seems to spill over the world and never end. Do not stir from that. Stay on board, that's the midnight train. It has come to take you home, it's home. If you stay on board for a few seconds, if you recognize it for what it is. Then that's it. There is nothing else, there will be no longer a you. You are the midnight train and the train is all there is. Even when you feel you are not on board, you are it. The darkness vanish, the world appears in resplendent light, but that is no other than the midnight train. The silence vanish and you hear the rattling of wheels, your thoughts are chanting their hypnotic tune, that is also the midnight train. The whistle blow, you feel it as pain, but that is nothing but the train. The train labors belching smoke, you see it as ignorance, but fret not, it's nothing but the engine doing it's job. The tunnel of death might loom ahead, but fear not, under or above the train will never stop. All aboard! Guest guest
Hi KKT, You raised an interesting point: The taking of the bodhisattva vow. Do you need to take a vow to give correct directions to lost drivers and pedestrians? If someone ask you for directions do you think you have done anything special that has accumulated any merits? So what is different with telling people how to stop torturing themselves with useless concepts? Isn't the whole posture of taking a vow, a little grandiose and dramatic? Are we not saying the universe is screwed up, but I, this little speck of nothing, is going to fix it? Do you honestly think that there is an entity who is not a bodhisattva now, but will become one later? Do you honestly think you have a choice to stay or leave a place call samsara? Isn't it the very idea of samsara and separated entities to be saved from it, samsara itself? Stop discriminating, film from screen, this from that and everything will be accomplished; You will do, what you will do. No vows needed!
