That was a question I had a while back but feared to ask as not to

look stupid. Who is directing awareness? If awareness is prior to

consciousness then what directs awareness or is it that awareness

just is and consciousness focuses attention? Are attention and

awareness different?

The answer to this question is very easy once the question is worded

correctly. When we ask 'prior to', what we mean is not 'prior to'

chronologically, but 'prior to' meaning comes before in fundamental

importance. In short, 'Prior to' as in the Latin used by Kant 'a

priori'.

 

Once the question has been worded as a precendence/dependence issue,

the answer becomes obvious: It all depends! For proof of my answer
