Perhaps a good definition of Ramana would be 'Saint-Sage'. Not all

sages are saints, and vice-versa -- and 'Realization' doesn't

guarantee some kind of sainthood, or even *ability to

express* 'Realization' in words.

 

Ramana seems to be both Saint and Sage, thus his immense popularity.

 

Another example, at least claimed by Neo-Vedanta, is Ramakrishna.

I've never looked into his teachings, however.
